Money Dance Yes or No???

August2018 Bride, on February 19, 2018 at 1:39 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
I’ve heard mixed things on doing a Money dance. What is your opinion on a Money dance? I personally don’t feel right doing it, but my BM’s say we should?

Most everyone on here believes it’s tacky- I don’t really have an opinion. I think it’s definitely a culture/ area type of thing, so if every wedding you’ve been to has done it- do it. For me, only one wedding I’ve been to has done it (and I believe it was a culture thing), so my FH and I are not doing it Smiley smile

Im a wedding planner. All of the weddings i have been part of or attended have never done this. It is a cultural practice of showering the couple with money as they dance. . dont recommend it.

I personally think they are kind of weird and a bit tacky. But I have only been to one wedding with a money dance (and I’ve been to lots of wedding). If saw them more often maybe I wouldn’t think anything of them.

I find it bizarre. Never seen someone do it at a wedding and I honestly don’t know how I’d react if I did.

We're doing it. And most weddings that I have been to have done it so I don't even feel bad.

Agree with this! The one wedding we went to that did this was very awkward since no one was going up to tape money to the bride and groom. Again, it was a cultural thing and even with half the guests attending being of that culture, it still didn’t take off.

Every wedding I've been to has done the money dance but we arent. It's definitely a regional thing.

Please no. Whenever there is a dollar dance I leave the dance floor sit down and wait for it to be over. Along with many other people. Totally ruins the flow of the party not to mention it’s tacky to ask for money.

I don't think its awful or anything. But the prospect of people dancing with me after giving me money kind of freaks me out. My FH wants to have one though. We will see.

If you want to do something similar, my best friend and her husband did two jars with each of their names. The bridal party went around and took 'votes' (money) for one of them to get pied in the face and told guests the money would go toward the honeymoon. I'm pretty sure my best friend won but they pied her husband instead so she didn't mess up her make up lol (no one knew) overall I do find these money things at weddings odd as I know I already put money in a card and usually don't come prepared (I just bring a few singles for bar tips) but I know that people do it. That just might be another option. Im personally not a fan of the money dance unless it's a culture thing. My family is Greek so we have a customary dance where you throw money at the dancer (this is at all events not just weddings) so for us it's a culture thing and totally expected. If it's not expected I'd say cut it!

I’ve been to a lot of weddings & they have done the money dance, but not the dollar dance or cake in the face.
I think We’ve decided to pass on it, we aren’t even going to register for gifts. We already have everything we need and really are just honored to have everyone come and celebrate with us! Thank you ladies for all your comments!!
