Money Dance.....traditional or tacky??

Kristi, on August 22, 2011 at 5:17 PM

Ok so we are discussing whether or not to have a money dance. My fiance say's it's tacky, but my mom & pretty much everyone else who I talk to seem to think that it's ok, and in fact kind of a tradition. What do you guys think??

I've only ever been to one that DID have one.. guess it all depends on the area you're from. Because it is not traditional/commonplace here, the wedding I attended that had it came across tacky to me, JMHO. Plus only a few people actually participated (<8), so it seemed very awkward for both the guests & bride.

IMO, I think it's tacky, but if it's tradition for you then do it.

I have been to about 6 weddings and I have always seen the dollar bag dance it is traditional and I would do it.

Its traditional in my family and his but I was on the fence about it. Then my dad said he absolutely did not want us to do that "tacky" dance. That was hilarious for me since he and my mom had it at their wedding. So, we definitely are not doing the money dance which will probably be new for FH's side of the family.

Edited because: I think my dad has been reading the wedding forums when no one is looking. lol

I'm doing one....where I'm from I've never been to a wedding w/o one! I dont like the idea b/c I don't like being close to people BUT since most peole dont like waiting in a receiving liine to see you and speak to you it's a nice alternative.

I know guests seem to like it because it offers a moment where they get to dance with the bride and groom. Even if it is just for a minute, it's a special time to share with the guest. It's not about the money, it's about setting aside a portion of your night to share with people on a personal level.
