By honeymoon fund do you mean honeymoon registry?

Some people will be fine with a money dance and/or a honeymoon registry, and other people will be appalled.

Personally?...the dollar dance is common where I'm from but I feel like it's tacky and kind of awkward so we didn't do it. And no way in heck would I do a HM registry. I kind of feel like it's just another way of asking for cash. But that's just me.

If you do a HM registry, I would suggest setting up a traditional registry alongside it so people have a choice of something other than cash to give you. Not everyone digs HM registries or honeyfunds.

I think it depends on your region. I have never seen a money dance in real life, only in pictures I print at work. So in my case a honeymoon fund would be better accepted. I don't think it would be bad to do both. From what I have seen the couple doesn't really get a whole lot of money from the money dance, people only pin $1 or $5, and there are only maybe 30 bills pinned on them. It's more of a fun thing so people get to dance with the bride/groom. But maybe people do the money dance differently other places?

I'd go with a honeymoon registry. check out depositagift.com worked great for us and you can register for more than just the honeymoon if you want.

My issue with honeymoon registries is the fact that you lose 5% in transaction fees. As a guest, I'd rather hand you a check for $100 than give you $100 online and have you only get $95.

@ Shellie- I've known several friends who have ended up with a few hundred dollar bills from the dollar dance. Also, I've never seen the money pinned on the couple. The bridesmaids collect it in a basket from the guests before they go up to dance with the bride/groom.

My brother & SIL wedding, they did money dance. It was cute but at the same time I felt it a bit tasteless, I didnt even participate cuz I didnt have cash on me. It feels to me like if you dont have the money, you dont get to dance w/ B&G, makes for some hurt feelings. We arent having money dance at ours.

Honeymoon registry, I know some people may also feel it's tasteless, just a different way of asking for cash. True, although atleast guests will know where that cash goes to, esp if you later include pictures.

We are doing honeymoon funds. I've already had family members ask why we are planning such a small honeymoon, & now we dont even know if we can afford it - wedding budget too high. So the way I feel, if guests are so concerned about us having a good honeymoon, they're welcome to contribute.
