Money dance alternatives?

Jocelyn, on January 24, 2020 at 4:19 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
So in our culture the bride and groom usually do like a “walk” down the main dance floor with the people that come and pin money onto them. But I really want to do something different and fun! I’m not fond of the “money dance” or just having it put into a box I want it to be fun for everyone. I’d love to hear your ideas please! Thank you!!

I know that most people say that asking/expecting money is rude, but if this a cultural thing then I would stick with the culturally expected tradition or not do anything money related at all. I'm sorry I'm not more help!

Thank you for the reply! We really don’t see it that way (it’s been done in all the family weddings for as long as I can remember) and it’s more of a fun thing for the guests to do! They usually come up and walk the bride and groom even if it’s with $1! We just don’t want the same walk (I find it very awkward just walking them) lol but I can’t think of a fun way! I know I want to do it forsure though.

I understand it's a part of your culture and it gets a pass for that reason. But for that reason, I don't see how you can change it up and do something different while still asking for money. If your guests will all expect it, you likely won't get a good response if you do something different (just like people who try to do a money dance in a culture that it's not the norm).

I think everyone has their own opinions on it! So I’d really like to refrain from people sharing whether they think my guests will give me a good response or not! My FH know them pretty well! But thank you for your comment anyways and your suggestions!
