Monday brides?

Laura, on June 24, 2020 at 8:22 PM Posted in Planning 1 25
It would be fun to meet other brides who chose less traditional days and dates! Mine is September 28th... On a Monday!

We’re getting married on a Saturday, but at sunrise which several people have been pretty negative about. My FH has worked nights throughout our relationship, so our first date was breakfast. We also wanted to get married early and celebrate all day, rather than spend all day getting ready.
We thought about a weekday wedding because FH and several of our friends work weekends so it would have been more convenient for them. Is your date significant to you two?

For sure... It's our anniversary of when we promised we'd be together forever. I knew the proposal was coming but I didn't know when... Smiley heart

That’s really sweet. We went on a trip over our anniversary and I had a feeling the proposal going to be over dinner, but he decided to do it during our sunrise hike. He said he contemplated doing it during our horse drawn sleigh ride the evening before our official anniversary, but he didn’t decide in time to talk to the company.

Awww.... I think that makes the sunrise wedding even more special.

We woke up in the middle of the night and he went to get a drink. Then came back and five onto the bed with the ring box. He was so excited. A 3am wedding might be off-putting though. Ha!!!

Not a Monday, but we're getting married on a Wednesday. It's our anniversary and is very meaningful as it will mark ten years together. It also happens to land on the day before Thanksgiving, haha

My wedding in August 5th, 2021 it is a Thursday. We wanted to keep our dating anniversary just change the year lol. Some people tried to talk us out of it but besides wanting the date the price was much better during the week.

I honestly don’t understand why Thursday weddings are such a big thing now, but no one ever seems to do Mondays.... good for you! I hope your day is wonderful Smiley smile

Yep! They basically said we can do whatever we want - we have the keys to the kingdom. Lol! And they don't expect other weddings on our date either. Smiley winking

And non-traditional dates are so much cheaper too!

One of my best friends got married on a Wednesday, which happened to be St. Patrick’s Day, which was also their first date anniversary. Smiley smile

We are doing a Sunday! It was because of guest count minimums and the cost was significantly cheaper as well.

Like you we're doing a sunrise wedding on a Saturday. But it's what we always wanted because we're early birds. The only negativity we've had is from some of FH's (not so early bird) SILs. LOL. We're having a destination wedding in the Keys and wanted the afternoon to spend relaxing with friends and family that came to be with us versus worrying about all the other stuff.

Smiley smile We are on 7/28, it's a Tuesday. It is our anniversary. Since everyone was traveling here regardless, we are OK with it. It also landed us 50% off of the normal rates.

Although it's become more common, we're doing a Sunday wedding. Cuts down a lot on cost.

With everything going on we are now going to have two weddings. Our big wedding will continue to be on a Sunday. However since our small wedding will literally be just the two of us we, have a lot of flexibility. We are planning to do it on a Tuesday (the coming one actually) because that is lucky in Jewish culture.
