Mom & Sis don’t love the dress i love!

Anyone else have experience with mom and sister loving a dress, but you end up finding another one that YOU love more? It’s frustrating that they can’t just say “get whatever you love.” They keep trying to talk me into the other dress. 😕

“Thank you for your opinion, but I’ve made up my mind.” It’s great they love a dress but this is your wedding and you’re the only one who actually has to wear the dress so you need to pick something you love.

You’re the one wearing the dress, get what you love.

I had this experience as well. It’s a little annoying, but in the end I just tell myself that not everyone’s opinions are the same, and that’s ok. I’m the one wearing the dress so in the end my opinion is the only one that matters. I found the best thing I did was not indulge them- I just said “nope, THIS one is my dress” and that’s that. Once I made it very clear I had found “the one” and had no interest in looking at any others, my mom got on board with my choice

I feel like in most cases this happens when a mom, did, friend has a vision of what SHE wants to see you (or herself) in. Not being mean but they just aren’t looking through your eyes. Trust your gut. We brides KNOW when it’s the right dress for us.

That happened to me. I ended up walking away from the dress that i loved and bought the dress that made my mom cry. I then proceeded to try to convince myself I loved it too for about 4 months before I finally decided to exchange it for the dress I really loved all along that my mom and FMIL both thought was “too plain” pick the dress that makes you happy and feel beautiful. No one else’s opinion really matters. They don’t have to wear it, you do. The dress is not an area where I feel you should need to please anyone. I was lucky I was able to exchange it, David’s Bridal can be very finicky sometimes. I might have been stuck with a dress I hated.

    Hi Jenna,
Congratulations, you have to remind them it's YOUR wedding, YOU pick your dress, I had opinions I didn't like either, just be firm and stand your ground! Pick the dress that YOU LOVE!

Don’t let them take away your excitement of the one you love. Get it and just don’t have any more discussions with them about it
