MOH vs. personal attendant?

Victoria, on November 17, 2013 at 5:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

What are the different responsibilities for the MOH and the personal attendant in planning and time leading up to the wedding?

I guess I don't see my MOH as my "personal attendant." Just sounds bizarre...like a servant or something. My MOH and bridesmaids are girls and family I wanted close to me on my big day and who I thought would be most excited. I'm not expecting anything from them other than fun Smiley smile

I don't know what a personal attendant is, but the MOH (and bridemaid's) responsibility is to buy a dress you chose in the budget she tells you, show up sober, and smile in the pictures. The MOH usually gives a speech and other BMs do not.

    That's it!

I will have a couple of my FH nieces ( 15 and 14) as my attendants. We are close and I will just have them doing things like fixing hair, getting me gum or some water. Just little things like that. Their brother is one of our ushers so I want them to feel included.

MOH Plan the shower, spread word about registries, keep record of gifts for future thank yous, go dress shopping for Bride and BP attires, toast at the rehearsel dinner. Personal attendants are Day of, Getting ready: and they are holding the brides phone (on silent), her purse, her makeup bag, steaming her dress, making sure shoes are there, checking the clock, giving her snacks so she doesnt run out of blood sugar, attending her need only. Ceremony & Reception holding an emergency kit with needle and thread, static stop spray, lipstick, powder, back up flats for dancing, extra bobby pins for "dance hair" and redbull for late night steam. its kind of like having a servant LOL
