It’s really up to you. We did a sweetheart table and then the bridal party were all sat amongst the rest of the guests at tables with people they were friends with or related to. That way everyone was sitting at a table with people they were comfortable with and liked.

It's completely up to you which I know is probably not the answer you are looking for. Below is how we had everyone seated. We did have some things that complicated seating. My father-in-law is estranged from my hubby's sister and hubby's older brother so they couldn't sit near each other. My hubby's parents are divorced and dad is remarried so we didn't want to my mother-in-law sit with father-in-law. My dad is a recovering alcoholic so we sat him with others who wouldn't be drinking. But this kind of gives you an idea of what a step-up might look like. Everyone in red writing was in the bridal party.
