Modified A-line Alterations

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone here has bought an A-line wedding dress and had it modified to fit through the hips or had it altered to a trumpet style. The original dress I fell in love with was a trumpet but the store no longer carried the dress I wanted so I bought another dress that I really liked BUT it’s an A-line and now that alteration appointments are getting close I’m trying to figure out what to do. Keep it or ask about changing it. I want the shape that the trumpet would show off.
If anyone has done this PLEASE share before and after pictures of your dress!

The first picture is the dress I bought. The second picture is what I’m pretty sure I want. Again, any experience or advice is appreciated! I just wanted to add pictures for reference.

I would discuss this with your seamstress to see what is possible and what he/she feels would work with the material. You don’t want to risk ruining your dress. I’m just curious, why didn’t you just purchase a trumpet or mermaid style?

The dress I wanted was a trumpet, they no longer carried it and nothing else compared to it. I tried the A-line on and thought I loved it but I keep thinking about the other dress. I plan to discuss it when I go for my appointment, I was just looking to see if anyone had any experience with doing it beforehand.

I don't have the answer to your question but I came here to say we're dress twins! I have the dress you bought do I'm partial to it and I say leave it the way it is bc it's so pretty!

It is a very pretty dress and I keep trying to remind myself I chose it for a reason! lol Are you wearing a petticoat with yours? I preferred the sheath look over the A-Line so I didn’t even try one but now I’m wondering if maybe I should try one to maybe re fall in love with the dress as it is.

Yes I bought a trumpet slip from David's Bridal. I liked it bc it was less full then the ball gown slip they originally had me in.
