Modesty panel or not?

el10717, on July 24, 2017 at 2:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My wedding gown has some sheer portions, which I have never cared for in a wedding dress. When I bought the dress the woman who helped me said I could line them with "modesty panels." Now that my dress has come in, my mom and friends said they definitely would not line them. I love the beading on my dress, especially since I will be getting married in Las Vegas. Do you think the modesty panels will take away from that? Or should I just leave it as is? It's only sheer on the sides and back although it's not that easy to see in pictures.

Don't mind my weird stance, I was getting too many instructions and opinions at once

    Do you have a closeup?

If it makes you uncomfortable, get the panels. From what I can see from here, it looks fine.

Panels won't take away from the beading. What makes you feel more beautiful in it, panels or no?

I don't think the sheer panels are bad but if I were you, I would do whatever you think would make you feel the most comfortable in the dress.

I like "modesty" panels for sheer portions of the dress because the back is so beautiful I think they would highlight that. I don't think they would take away from the beading at all!

I wish I had a closeup but unfortunately I didn't get any better pictures and I've been so scared to try it on at home with my two black dogs. The sheer panels don't really make me uncomfortable, like I don't really feel too risqué or anything. It's more getting over the fact that I bought a dress I never pictured myself in

Is there any way you can try it with the sheer panels? Can they temporarily pin them in or something just so you can see what it looks like?

@Daniella, I don't have my first fitting until August 29th (the seamstress assured me that's enough time) so I haven't been able to do that but hopefully she can, not sure why I didn't think of that. Thank you for the idea!

I think it looks okay either way, however I think the stock photo of the picture has more of a wow moment for me. I think like other PPs have said the modesty panels would accent the bead work.

I absolutely love my dress. I bought it with the plan of modesty panels, so I'm just a little confused when everyone who has seen it strongly votes no to them. I'm sure I will be happy either way, I just need to decide. My sister even suggested I get the modesty panels for the ceremony and cut them out for the reception but that just seems like such a waste to me.

I like the dress, but agree with @Kate, my eyes automatically go to the sheer parts of the dress. I would get the panels

I honestly would do what makes you comfortable. I personally would do the panels.

The dress is beautiful as is. You look great in your dress. I vote for you to not add the panels...but at the end of the day, it's your wedding, your dress, do what you feel you need to do.
