Mob/mog Dresses

Allie, on July 20, 2024 at 3:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I’m having trouble figuring out what color dresses the moms should wear! I want them to complement our theme/colors which is spring/garden party. My bridesmaids are wearing mismatched pinks and groomsmen are wearing light gray suits. Any suggestions?

Greens, blues, and purples are generally good, "go-to" hues that compliment a variety of skin tones and figures.

    Some examples:
    A "eucalyptus" shade of green.
    Dark or deep teal

    Hunter green
    Slate blue

    Navy blue
    A deep lavender or wisteria
Darker shades of purple ranging from those closer to "royal", or an "eggplant".

I had a late summer wedding where my husband wore a suit in a deep blue shade similar to Navy, mom wore Navy blue, my father wore a darker, charcoal gray suit, my husband's aunt wore a "Victoria Purple" dress from Catherine's, my husbands uncle wore a black suit with a lavender shirt, my bridesmaids were in Mori Lee moss green dresses, the groomsmen wore light gray suits with ties to match the bridesmaid dresses.

Maybe some other people will add some color recommendations. Just consider though that you should only be giving suggestions not required colors for them. Mainly just do so if they are interested in fitting in with your theme colors. Otherwise, they will not typically be in pictures with the bridesmaids --which could be the greatest color clash.

The moms should be able to wear whatever they are comfortable in. Neither them or the dads are required to match the bridal party nor should you be dictating their attire.

Lots of moms want some guidance and ask for a starting point, it doesn't mean you're dictating what they wear! They may be in some photos with wedding party members (for example if you have sisters/cousins that are bridesmaids) or maybe they just want to ensure they don't match exactly. I always like this guide which gives suggestions of what colors coordinate well: https://www.davidsbridal.com/inspiration/dresses/color-mother-of-the-bride-wear

I d ask the mom's what color they want to wear. If they want a guide from you I d pick maybe 5-8 colors to choose from but make sure sure that they know the most important thing is they feel comfortable and beautiful in their dress. If they find a dress in a different color be open minded about it. If there s a specific color you want to avoid like black I d mention that as for colors that go with pinks gray, dusty blue, sage green, navy, lilac, wine. Good luck 💜

I would wear a floral print that has pink in it unless the bridesmaids are wearing a floral print. If they were wearing solid, different shades of pink, I think that a floral dress with pink in it will complement the wedding party very nicely-I also think that a solid color such as green, lavender, or creams look beautiful for a spring wedding and compliment the different shades of pink.

It’s one thing if they decide to wear coordinating colors on their own but moms are not in the bridal party and you really have no legitimate say over their dresses, the color. whether they match the wedding colors or each other.
