mob dress

Help! I went dress shopping with my mom yesterday for her MOB dress. She tried on close to 50 dresses and felt either too old, too young, or did not like her figure (she’s normally a size 2 but currently a 10 due to health issues). She fell in love with the dress pictured and so did I. I finally convinced her it is appropriate for a mom, but she still feels like she needs to be “fancier”. She hates typical MOB dresses because they look like “old lady dresses” lol. She doesn’t believe me that moms have started wearing bridesmaids dresses (i even showed her pictures of my friends mothers in their weddings).

Is this dress appropriate? Or is she right?

I think that's gorgeous - unless your wedding is black tie level formal, it's fine! Accessories, hair and makeup will make it plenty fancy enough Smiley smile

I think it depends on your wedding. Mine is more laid back, so something like this would be alright. It’s a nice dress but doesn’t read MOB to me. My mom shopped several different days at various stores before finding one we all liked.

Agree with the other ladies. She can wear an updo and accessorize. A dress pair of heels will help. I'm sure this style looks the best on her if she is self-conscious and she should feel good on this big day.

As long as your wedding isn't super formal/black tie, I think it's great. Very pretty dress!

I agree with this. It’s very pretty but not something I would think about for mob. My mom thought she had her dress and now wants to change it. She has since tried on a bunch but still hasn’t found it. If you have the time work with your mom and keep looking.

I like it. She could also put a jacket or shawl over it if anything

If your wedding is casual it'd work!

I think the dress is beautiful and if your mom feels good in it, especially at a time when she might be feeling uncomfortable with her size or shape, that’s all that matters. Unless your event is a black tie formal event, she’ll be totally fine.

My mother also did not go with a traditional MOB dress. This is what she chose. It obviously needs some alterations but I love it. I think the dress you posted is beautiful and would be perfectly fine as a MOB dress. It's sophisticated enough to not look like a prom dress but not matronly either. If she feels comfortable in it and it goes with the style of your wedding, I say go for it!

Same- a shawl or shrug would be a great addition.
