Help! I don’t know what to do! My mother dresses too sexy in general but for my rehearsal dinner and my wedding I really think the dresses she wants to wear are just too much! (I added the pics from the websites where she bought them) She’s a young mother of the bride (just 39) and I understand...
Help! I don’t know what to do! My mother dresses too sexy in general but for my rehearsal dinner and my wedding I really think the dresses she wants to wear are just too much! (I added the pics from the websites where she bought them) She’s a young mother of the bride (just 39) and I understand she’s still young and doesn’t want to look old. Am I being unreasonable? How can I express my concerns without hurting her?

Those are nightclub outfits and inappropriate to wear to a wedding, regardless of whether you are the MOB or someone else. Unless your wedding is Vegas strip-club themed, I just don't see how these would be appropriate. I would simply tell your mother you want something a little more demure for your wedding and offer to go shopping with her. There are plenty of sexy options that are a little more discrete, and I'm hopeful you can find something that your mom feels confident in and you feel comfortable with. I think a bodycon midi dress could be very sexy and flattering while still being wedding appropriate.

I would be slightly annoyed if ANYONE showed up to my wedding in the second dress, LET ALONE my mother. NO way... the first one isn't so terrible... but again I do agree its a little too much and in my opinion its a little to close in color, I would be annoyed if my mother wore anything remotely close to white. Silver, tan, cream etc. all off limits. This probably sounds terrible of me but it is what it is....

Don't let anyone tell you that because she dresses sexy that you should let it go. This outfits are not at all appropriate for anyone to wear to a wedding or rehearsal. Those are going clubbing outfits. I'd tell her that do to the formality of the wedding she can not wear those outfits. Tell her she needs to wear church appropriate clothes for a wedding. If you are having it at a church tell her do to it being in a church she needs something with a little more coverage.

I mean. Those outfits are a lot to take in! However, I'm not sure you can tell other grown adults what to wear, other than your attendants. You can't make her comply, and it sounds like she doesn't plan to.

Holy moly. IMO that's a little inappropriate for anyone to wear to a wedding, much less the MOB. There's a balance between stripper and old lady lol

WOW. I would sit my mom down and tell her that you're going to take her shopping and pay for the dress, and give her choices of what you think will be appropriate and then let her choose among them. She can keep the dresses she already bought, but she won't be wearing them to your event. If she wants to attend, she can cover up and dress appropriately. It's your day to be the center of attention, not for people to be pointing at her thinking WHAT IS SHE WEARING?
