Mixing gold & platinum rings- PICTURES please

Natasha, on September 16, 2015 at 7:04 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Do any of you have a gold wedding band and platinum (or white gold) engagement ring or vice versa? My engagement ring is platinum but I think I'd like to mix it up with a yellow gold wedding band. I don't like matching. Attached is a picture of the wedding ring I think I'm getting but in yellow gold. My jeweler, who is a trusted friend, said it isn't true that the platinum will ruin the gold so that isn't a concern. The problem is it's hard to find many pictures like this online! Do you mind sharing yours? I would LOVE to see yours!

I don't have a picture but pretty sure my mom's E-ring (which was a family ring) is platinum and her wedding bands are yellow gold. She's been wearing them for about 35 years with no problem. I think that combination looks nice, there are a lot of stones so the yellow gold won't be very noticed I'm guessing.

Did your jeweler say anything about platinum being harder than gold and would wear away at the wedding band?

Both of my rings are platinum, but I switch them around frequently so they wear evenly (if they are going to wear -- they are over 80 years old).

Nancy- yes she said people do it all the time with no problem. It would have been to her advantage to say it would so that I would spend more on platinum but she said it was not an issue!

My e-ring is white gold but my band is yellow gold. I would have gone for white gold but our bands are sentimental, FH's Mom gave us his grandparents' yellow gold bands to melt down for ours, so I'll be mixing. I'm unsure about how it will look as well.

Not the best pictures because I just snapped them real quick and the lighting in here isn't great but this is my set (well, in 3 days). I don't really plan to wear them together much but rather I plan to basically wear whichever I feel like on any given day. I may change my mind and wear them together but I'm not sure.

I would try rose gold [last pic MrsBrinkleyToBe posted]

Its not as harsh and blends in better but is still unique IMHO Smiley smile

I have platinum with a green sapphire and a rose gold band. I don't have any pictures at the moment, but I really like it!

I'm so happy to see this post!!!! I'm in the same boat. My e ring is white gold, but I wear gold jewelry daily. I don't mind mismatching at all, and usually prefer gold with my skin tone and with my hair. But I'm torn about my rings!!! The jeweler said we could swap my setting on my e-ring, but I'm just not sure what to do.

I'm doing rose gold mostly and some silver with my wedding dress.
