Mix between Ireland and Bahamas honeymoon

Danielle, on December 13, 2019 at 8:30 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13
My fiance and I are having a tough time agreeing on a honeymoon destination. I was thinking somewhere tropical with a beach but he was thinking Europe, particularly Ireland or England. Our honeymoon would be in the end of June or early July and he doesn't like the heat. Ireland and England dont sound like romantic destinations to me. Anyone have any ideas for a mix between the two?

If you go Europe then Italy has nice beaches and lots of history. You can still fly to England for more history from there and then Paris is not too far for romance.

Why not Mediterranean? Greece is Europe and history and culture plus beaches and islands or Italy. Even off the coast of Spain.

Greece? Is in Europe, very romantic and has beaches. You can also do the Italy for a mix of both.

I went to Ireland in June this year and it was COLD and rained every day. If you go to Ireland I would not recommend Dublin as it’s not very romantic. The other side of the country, Galway, is romantic and on the sea. But it was still cold.

England can actually be incredibly romantic!! (As can Ireland as well). I would research a little more into it- you might be pleasantly surprised!!

Ireland was AMAZING! We did our engagement pictures while on vacation there in August. The Wicklow Mountains (about a 40 minute drive south of Dublin), Cliffs of Moher, and Ashford Castle were some of my favorite places we went. There are plenty of romantic places to stay in Ireland. I just personally don't find Dublin to be romantic.

I’m biased as I got engaged in Ireland and am from Ireland - but happy to chat more about how wonderful and romantic it is... seaside cottages, castles! Yes, Dublin is a big city but get away from Temple bar and you can walk through St Stephens Green, cozy up at a cocktail bar, eat at a Michelin restaurant - there’s so much in Dublin alone! Yes, it rains a lot, but that opens your experience up to fireplaces! Ireland is amazing.

Thank you! He did an amazing job! I've joked about cancelling our US wedding and just going to Ireland so he can be our wedding photographer too 😂 we used David Duignan Photography for our engagement pictures. Every single picture he took was stunning!

That can be really hard that you both want something different but many of my friends have been to Ireland and they said it is absolutely romantic and beautiful! I think that would be a good compromise

This was definitely my issue with my husband and I. I wanted something romantic and once in a lifetime NOT to say Ireland is not. We still want to go to Ireland but I vetoed it as honeymoon material. I figured beachy was the lesser of two evils for my husband (compared to something that is history/architecture/touring heavy like England/Ireland) as he would've rather gone to a cabin type ranch in the states, which I also said we could do any time we wanted as a more affordable vacation. I would say Italy definitely has beaches or something like Spain? The way I see it, one of you might have to get what you want and the other gives in, which basically happened with husband and I.
