Missing invitations 😩

Hope, on February 20, 2021 at 12:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
We sent our wedding invitations out a few weeks ago and there are several that I know for certain never arrived. One invitation got sent back to my house. I’m worried the post office has lost them because there are guests in the same city that some got the invite weeks ago, others haven’t received it yet. I’m really anxious and not sure what to do! Is there a way for the post office to track them down? I have no idea how many never made their journey—do I now have the job of checking with every single guest and asking if they received it?

I try to be supportive of the post office but I’ve never had a good experience and this seals the deal 😠 what a mess. I appreciate any advice from brides who’ve had this happen to them! Thanks!

Unfortunately, I would rather be safe than sorry and just check in with your guests, especially since you KNOW some of them haven't been delivered. The same thing happened when I sent my save the dates. 4 of them were returned to me over a month after I sent them, even though the addresses were correct, and there are at least 3 *that I know of* that are flat out missing and were never delivered (it's been 4 months). I'm super worried about my invitations to say the least and plan to check in with those who haven't rsvp'ed like 2 weeks before the rsvp date just to make sure they got it. I don't plan to be a nag, just bring it up in conversation and explain that the postal service has been pretty awful due to covid. If anyone knows how to track mail from USPS, I would be ecstatic to know!

Thanks Melanie! I know it’s been rough for the post office with COVID. You make a good point that it will be a useful excuse to check in with people who haven’t RSVP’d yet, so I guess there’s that silver lining!

Mail is REALLY slow right now. It can’t hurt to say “Hey, with mail being delayed all over I wanted to let you know an invitation is on the way...here is the info”

We got married pre-COVID and the mail lost or returned several of our invitations. (Bonus for two having the same address, and one getting returned to us as "address does not exist".)

Unfortunately, this is common, and the best thing to do is just reach out.

I would differently check with your friends and family. The post office is not just slow right now they are totally messing up. Mail that was sent 2-4 months ago is finally getting to where it was suppose to be.

I am in the same exact situation now and I feel for you. I have checked with bridal party and family and NO ONE I have checked with has received their invitations. I went to the post office I mailed them from and like I expected all they could tell me is that they had all gone out and everything was delayed due to COVID and the huge snow storm (I’m in Texas). It’s been nearly 3 weeks 😩. I’m planning to send an email and then follow up with texts. It makes me so upset but not much else we can do.
