Mismatched Favors

Maddy, on April 25, 2020 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
So my FH and I love coffee shops and mugs and we wanted to do a favor that would be something most people would use — a mug! But as a little twist and to save money on our budget, we’re going to thrift all the mugs and also use them as a seating chart. Ex: people walk into the reception, find their name alphabetically and their table number with a mug that says that is their drink cup and favor to keep (we are having hot drinks for a winter wedding). However, my mom mentioned it might look weird to have nicely set reception tables with mismatched mugs. What do you think? We were also trying to find mugs that we thought would fit well with for each guest as a personal touch to them. Any thoughts?

    Hello! 😊

I think this is such a wonderful and inexpensive idea! You can always paint the mugs or find some that will go well with your theme/color scheme. If your guest count is low it could be easier to find mugs that fit your guest. Hope this help! Don’t forget to checkout garage sales once this blows over, flea markets and online (:

If you have the patience, you could DIY Dollar Tree mugs with oil based Sharpies. That way they’re customized to each guest and they’re more uniform.Mismatched Favors 1

I think the mismatched would have a nice antiquey/boho vibe!

I actually think it sounds good. A lot of people do mismatched China and stuff for their reception set ups

Those are the most useful and *thoughtful* favors I've ever heard of!

I think having them mismatched will help everyone remember their mugs, not to mention add a sweet personal touch to the wedding.

I think the idea of the mismatched mugs as the seating chart and their favor is a great idea! However, I’d think twice about having them use the mugs at the wedding as their drinking glass. People won’t want to take home a dirty cup and many will stay in the tables.

Either have it as the favor or the drink cup for the night (many places don't even allow that for health reasons), not both. People will not take home a dirty cup.

I think that's the cutest idea, my godmother told me that whatever I choose to do I should since it's my wedding & it is very true. Whatever you guys choose to do, do it since it's your day & it's a thing both of you like. Although I probably wouldn't use them for actual drinks & just let them take them home as a favor.
