Mismatched cloth napkins

Alison, on May 7, 2018 at 3:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Hello! Has anyone done mismatched cloth napkins for their reception table settings? (Lots of different colors/patterns.) That is what I am planning to do but curious if anyone has any pics or advice. I was thinking of plain white tablecloths and white rose with greenery for the centerpieces. We are most likely doing round tables (8 or 10 per table.) Thanks!

Are you renting the napkins or buying them? It's a cute idea but the impact will be short lived once every one sits down to dinner and puts their napkin in their lap.

Most wedding decor is short impact so I wouldn't let that deter you. Mismatched will give a more casual look, but that might be perfect for your wedding. It's a look that would be perfect for a vintage, garden party, tea party, rustic, picnic theme.

If the napkins are patterned, I would keep the nearby elements a solid color.

Are your dishes also going to be mismatched China? If so, I'd consider sticking with one color napkin. But if your dishes are all the same, the napkins could be very nice.

I am going to do all the same dishes (high end plastic), real silverware (rented) and I was thinking of trying to buy the napkins. There are a lot of estate sales, thrift stores, etc where I live so I figured I could source them that way. I am ok with a more casual look but I don't want it to look bad.

Thanks, these are pretty!! I was thinking slightly more retro/kitschy but I agree that they should sort of go together as a group and not clash.

I wish I could have done mismatched china but that seemed expensive, so I thought if I did napkins I could get a similar feel for less $$$...

Very true.... then that pop of color will be gone. Maybe I should have at least a little pop of color in the flowers.

I'm doing rainbow colors for my wedding so my napkins will be alternating with 5 to 6 colors around the tables.

We are doing mismatched china. We spent a year collecting it in bits and pieces from thrift shops and other brides and grooms.

Solid colour runners and napkins though.
