Mismatched centerpieces: how many candles?

isabel1115, on November 12, 2019 at 3:58 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 2

We are doing 2 different mismatched centerpieces:

1. Gold candlelabras with 5 tealight candles in clear cups. Below them will be mirrored rounds, small arrangements of flowers and tealights in gold cups. There will also be a gold table number.

2. Low centerpieces in gold bowls above a mirrored round with tealights in gold cups. There will also be a gold table number.

So my plan was originally for the mirrored rounds, table numbers, matching flowers, and tealights in gold cups to tie it all together but my question is...how much does everything need to match to still look consistent?

-I was originally thinking 5 tealights in gold cups per table but for the ones with arrangement 1, that'll be 10 candles whereas arrangement 2 has 5 candles. Is that weird?

-If I did 3 tealights in gold cups with arrangement 1 and 5 tealights in gold cups with arrangement 2, then the difference will be 8 candles vs 5 candles but the numbers won't match on the table surface. Which is weirder? To not match overall and in lighting level or to not match on the surface of the table?

-Finally, is it ok if 3 of the candles are on the mirror and 2 aren't? It's a bit of a tight space on the mirrored round. Not sure this would even work with scenario 3...

I want there to be some consistency but I'm not sure how to go about it!

Honestly, I could barely follow this to give any specific advice lol. I will say that I think you're way overthinking it. None of your guests will be counting how many candles are at their table versus the table next to them, I promise. If you had a picture of the ideas you're considering, we could help you by choosing which ones we like the best! But again, you're definitely overthinking, it will look great either way Smiley smile

    Hey there!!

You are obviously putting a lot of thought into your tablescapes and want them to look beautiful and don't worry, they will! You may be a little too worried about something that not a lot of people will notice.

You don't need everything to match perfectly in order to keep coordinated and consistent. By the sounds of it, there will be similar elements in each of the centerpieces that will tie the whole look together.

If you are going for the 'mismatched' centerpiece look, then embrace it! They don't have to be identical to look beautiful!
