Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses

Allison, on October 31, 2017 at 1:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I have a bridal party of 6 girls and they all live in different areas and have busy schedules. I really want to go for the "mismatched dress look" where its all different dresses and shades of the same color. Im wondering how the bridesmaids should coordinate with eachother to ensure they will all go together or are on track with the right "look". Anyone have ideas or have seen this done/been apart of this?

Thank you!!

Create a Facebook group for them to share pictures or links for way they are wanting so they can communicate.

I also have 6 bridesmaids all from different places. I just created a Facebook group with all 6 of them, that way we can all communitcate more easily. I sent them links (through the group chat) to the different dresses I liked, and they got to choose from there.

Some websites will let you save your dresses into a favorites section, or create a showroom.

I wanted my BM's to go the same route as you, but we're not all in the same state so going together to check things out isn't an option. I currently have a show room of dresses for them to choose from on Azazie, that consists of I think 20 dresses that I really liked. I only have 7 BM's so the likelihood of them picking the same dress is slim, but I'll probably just start a group chat, so they can just let me know what dress was picked, and then everyone else will know what's already been chosen as well!

I also have 6 bridesmaids. We all live in various parts of the the country and they all have very different body types. I have one bridesmaids who is 6'2, one who just had a baby and is extremely busty, one who is petite, one who is curvy in all the right places, etc. I initially had them send me measurements and found what I though would be the perfect dress online, boy was I wrong! So long story short we ended up doing exactly what Bulbasaur suggested and created a Facebook group. I picked out the color, however, with some limitations from David's Bridal and allowed them to choose the style of dress that best suited their body! They all look beautiful and I can't wait to see it all come together! They will all be wearing the same shoes and jewelry to make it look cohesive, but I am happy with my decision to allow them to have freedom to choose so they feel comfortable and beautiful considering they were the ones paying.

My bridesmaids are half east coast, half west coast. I assigned them all a color. My MOHs (sisters) will be matching in one color blue, then my 3 other girls and flower girl, I have assigned David's Bridal colors to.

I asked each girl, in private, what their budget was. Using that, I am giving them a color at David's and saying they can have whatever they choose, in that shade.

I think telling them a color and length and then letting them select their own dresses would be the way to go. Bridesmaids dresses don't have to match & I, honestly, think it looks better when they don't.

Im personally not a fan of the mismatched look, but I have seen weddings where this works well. That being said I have 5 bridesmaids one lives in Philly, and another in Israel. Three of the girls are local and can go shopping with me, the three will go dress shopping and have different figures from one another so the dress that looks good on all 3 should look good on the other 2. We are going to davids bridal to make shopping for a dress accessible to the other 2. The BM that lives in Israel will get measured there and I will order her dress. The one in Philly has a DB in her area.

Send them a color swatch. That's the only way you can make sure they're all the same shade if you really want that. Mine are wearing same shade and different styles. It honestly makes me happy, they were all gushing about their dresses. The reaction wouldn't have been the same if I forced them all to wear a specific dress!

Have them send you pictures of two or three options that they like then pick the ones that you think go together well.

I have 7 BMs and I wanted the mismatched look. Im using dusty blue from Weddington Way - they have 19 dress styles to choose from so everyone can have a different dress in the same fabric Smiley smile

Edit: you can buy online, but they also have a few stores! They are associated with Gap, so the dresses fit really well without alterations!

I'd pick a length and designer and then either pick one color or specify the designer-specific colors that are options, and then let them pick the dress style from there! If you nail down the elements that tie it all together then it will be easier to make it all come together Smiley smile

Check out Azazie, David's Bridal, and Dessy Group! They all have lots of styles to choose from!
