Mismatch Bridesmaids Dresses

Bailey, on August 20, 2020 at 7:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 12

Hello!

My wedding is in November and I really like the idea of having mismatch bridesmaids dresses. Our theme is boho fall. The colors that I am thinking for my bridesmaids dresses are forest green, cinnamon (burnt orangy), and a red color. Is this a good idea? The groom and groomsmen are wearing blue suits (which i love). However, I am scared it will all clash when it comes together. Any ideas or personal experiences?

Thanks!

I definitely agree the blue could end up clashing with dress colors that you like. If you were doing a more neutral color suit like black or grey I think it would look better. You don't want to have too many different colors that it ends up distracting your guests from you and your spouse. The photo below is what I'm picturing when you said mix matched.

Yes this is what I was imagining. So far, i have only purchased the green. And we already have the blue suit. Aahh!

My only other thought was if you add a blue dress, but the more colors you add the more likely it is going to look distracting. Would you be able to return or exchange the blue suit or could it be worn for another event?

I would make sure not to stand a red & green dress next to eachother- it may read Christmas

My daughter is planning the same colors for her wedding minus the red. She’s adding a champagne color. She originally thought blue suits but now I think she’s thinking black pants with white shirt and tobacco suspenders for the guys (with brown shoes).

I love mismatched dresses - both color and style - that still connect to some kind of color palette guideline. Go for it! Blue is basically a neutral so I say don't stress too much about a mismatch between bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Go for it! There are definitely ways to do this that make it look cohesive! The same length and fabric is one example. A bridesmaid in satin with another in tulle could look disjointed, but some people like that. Just do whatever you want

I agree with previous posters, you want to try to keep them looking cohesive as far as the fabric itself and the length of the dress as well so that they don't clash.

The colors sound like they are going to be beautiful next to one another, post pictures if you do go ahead with the idea! ☺️

Not sure about the red and orange dress colors together. That may clash in photos. Have you seen photos of these 2 dress colors together?
