Mismatch bridesmaids and matching groomsmen?

Jazz, on January 17, 2019 at 9:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hi everyone! I recently sent my BM all the info they needed on dresses. We are doing berry tones:

Like thisMismatch bridesmaids and matching groomsmen? 1

FH is wearing a navy suit and he purchased navy suspenders for his groomsmen, asking them to buy navy pants and dark brown shoes if they don't have them. My BIL (my sister's husband) made me kind of self conscious because he didn't understand why the BM were not matching with the GMs. I thought the navy was okay. (one of the BM is wearing navy, that's my sister). Now I'm wondering if there is some way that I need to be trying to get the GM to be in the berry scheme. Which I feel like blue is, considering that I'm also wearing blue/navy sneakers and a leather jacket (outdoor mountain wedding). I was planning on getting the BM together to get/decorate jackets as well. But I thought black would be simple enough.

Do I need to get the bridesmaid blue jackets like mine? Or get the GM different berry tone bowties with their navy suspenders or something? Does it truly matter?! CRYYYYY. Also we have uneven sides, just by 1.

No I don’t think you need to get them jackets like you. I also don’t think they need berry tone bow ties. Nope; it doesn’t matter. I think you’re overthinking it!

I don’t think you need to do anything, it will look fine either way! I do actually think the berry ties would look really good haha, but I don’t think it’s necessary!

I honestly think you could go either way! I don't think it's weird at all that your girls are in berry tones (one of them being navy) and all the guys are in navy. Navy is a neutral so it goes with everything! The groomsmen don't have to match the bridesmaids, but rather coordinate. All of my girls are wearing different shades of blush and the guys are wearing grey suits w/ navy ties. It would be too hard to get the guys ties to match the shades of their dresses, IMO. Plus, I didn't want to put them in pink haha.

You could also bring in the berry tones with the guys bow ties/ties too if you wanted and I think that would look nice as well. I would still have them do navy pants though.

Personally, I wouldn't have the bridesmaids wear black jackets as I feel it clashes with the navy.

I think your original plan to go with navy is perfect fine.

Thanks Kenisha!! I think he just got in my head lol. The bad thing about having a decent amount of time until the wedding is that it's time to overthink things lol! I hope your planning is going well!! Smiley smile

Thanks for your input!! I'll talk to FH about it because he started thinking about it too after that lol. If he agrees then we'll go for it. If he's "ehhh" I'll drop it to save myself the stress! Lol. Do you think the different berry tones will be okay with the navy suspenders?

    BREATH!! lol

This is you & FH's wedding...so I think y'all should do what y'all want. If y'all think your colors mesh well and that is what you like, then that is what y'all should go with. Try not to over think it. I know it's easier said than done though...I totally stressed over BM colors, lol. But ended up going with the color I originally wanted! I could of saved myself so much stress and worry, If I would of just stuck with my original vision. I think your colors will be just fine, and you do not have to have your BM's match the GM's or yourself for that matter, because you are the Bride and are supposed to stand out. Smiley smile

    Ditto.

I think what you're doing sounds PERFECT. Don't let BIL get in your head or make you doubt it. I think the coordinating thing is super pretty!!

And if you try to match a bow tie with a girl it could look prom.

Here's a good photo to help you visualize what I think you're doing:

I think it will be fine, the groomsmen won't match 100%. I think too much mismatching just looks unorganized. Their pants & shoes & shirts will all be different brands and shades I'm sure.

I think it will be beautiful to have all the bridesmaids in the jewel tones and the groomsmen in navy suits. I almost think if you do mismatch groomsmen it might be too much.

I am doing mismatching Bridesmaids as well, but keeping the groomsmen in just one solid color. I think that either way, if you make the groomsmen match or not, that it would look great either way!

Not even kind of weird. My FH and I are the definition of opposites attract, so I have the boho wedding gown, mismatched bridesmaids, and (to his absolute horror) legitimately suggested I might wear foot jewelry instead of shoes. Meanwhile he’s s the straight laced, military guy who has to have his groomsmen matching right down to belt buckles and shoelaces.

Bottom line, don’t sweat it and enjoy your wedding- your color scheme will be stunning!

Your idea is just fine. The best wedding I ever went to was in a backyard and the bridesmaids had different colors but same material. Sometimes people can't see someone else vision. Do what ever makes
YOU happy please. Worst regret would be if you didn't.

I honestly think it would be weird to do it any other way than what you have already planned. I don't think that the groomsmen have to have suits that match what each bridesmaid is wearing...... if YOU really care, then maybe go for the bowties. If it's just other people caring.... don't even listen. Your idea is great!

I think the navy suits will look really nice next to berry colored dresses. I'm of the belief that it should look good together, not necessarily like a set pair. Maybe you give your girls some navy blue necklaces if you're really concerned about it? Kind of a subtle nod to the groomsmen. That's my plan. My girls are wearing green, the boys are wearing gray with purple accents so I'm getting by girls some purple jewelry.
