Mis-matched vintage dishes?

Lynn, on December 6, 2020 at 6:55 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

For my reception, the caterer offers white plates for free and mis-matched vintage plates for a small fee. The vintage plates are kind of pretty but I'm wondering if they are a little out of style.

My best friend used vintage plates at her wedding reception five years ago, and I don't know if they're still in. Is anyone here doing that at their reception?

I'm good with just the plain white plates, but the vintage plates are pretty too.

I definitely wouldn’t spend extra money to have different plates. If you’ve got spare money in your budget, I would spend it on things people remember (food, alcohol, entertainment).

Have what you want regardless if something is "in" or not. Most people don't attend enough weddings to know what trends are. They automatically assume whatever is there is something the couple loves and don't think about it any deeper.

I would just go for the free plates.

I would just go for the free plates & use the extra $ elsewhere. However, what’s your vision? Will it go with your other decorations?

I would go with the free plates. Even if the vintage ones are pretty I feel like that's not something many people would remember from your wedding. I would use that extra money elsewhere

I agree with both of these points. But also, I don't know how vintage decor could be considered out of date, since by definition it's from a previous time, which is part of its charm.

Agree with the others, spend that money elsewhere!

My FH’s cousin just got married in October and she used all vintage glasses and plates that she and her mother found at tag sales, auctions, etc. so I don’t think it’s out of style. But does vintage really ever go out of style?
