Minted online Rsvp- guests and plus one(s)

Lili, on July 23, 2019 at 4:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 7

I dont know what Im doing.

When I input the name (ex. Mr. Joe Smith) and I give this guest a plus one for his wife (Mrs. Smith) do I input their names separately? Or do I just add Mr. Smith and a plus one option? I hope this makes sense.

For our single/dating guests they will receive a "plus one" option with a question text to input their guest name. But what do I do for families? Like a family with adult children?

Adults should get their own invitation. If John Smith Jr is 20 but still lives at home with John Smith Sr and Susie Smith, Jr gets his own invite and John and Susie get an invite.

What about married couple? Do I add each name separately as well? Or do I just put “Jane and Joe Smith” as one person? Even though there’s an option to add a spouse, only one name can be searched for the RSVP.

I’m not really familiar with their RSVPs, but it sounds like it would be easier for your guests if you put them in as individuals. That way they can find themselves by typing their own name, and guests can RSVP per person, in case one half of the couple can make it and the other half can’t.

I used Minted and it worked great by putting in for example “Mr. Joe and Mrs. Jane Smith and family”. If not married “Mr. Joe Smith and Mrs. Jane King.” The search function isn’t without its little glitches but for the most part works well if you put in both names in your addresses. Its harder to account for if you put them as individuals, and there should be a way that when you input them you can select the party size up to a certain number, which is helpful for families.

Oh one other point; when a guest or guests RSVPs, they’ll be able to select the number of their party number (in case someone can/cannot make it) and you can insert any other questions you want them to answer; for example we had meal selections and food allergies located here as well as a question about DJ requests.

Theres also a neat hidden event feature we used to invite folks in the wedding party to the rehearsal dinner along with their invitation to the wedding, but not have it publicized to everyone on the website. Your best bet is to make some edits that there is a setting where you can view it from a guest’s perspective to get what you like and see how the RSVP and other functions and pages look.

Hi Leah! I am trying to do this on my Minted wedding website as well. I was wondering how you worded the questions for meal choice, food allergies, etc? And how did you differentiate who wanted what meal?

Also, to clarify, you think it is easier to add guests as "one guest" by typing in both of their names in one line as opposed to importing each individual guest from a spreadsheet? Thank you!
