Minted Invites Recipient Addressing

Rachel, on June 26, 2018 at 2:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hello! I was thinking of taking advantage of the free recipient addressing on Minted's invitations. However, there's a disclaimer on this service that says " Please note that our “ALL-SCRIPT” designs must be hand-canceled at the post office and will incur a USPS surcharge per envelope."

Has anyone used this service and noticed their postage was more expensive to send these out? If so - how much more expensive?

I used Minted, but didn't hand-cancel at the post office. I wish we had. Multiple invites got mailed to US instead of the intended recipients because of the machine scanning... Some of them almost 2 weeks after we mailed them out, impacting our RSVPs. It was a real headache.

Hm. From what I understood was that all invited with the addresses will be sent to us. And then we send them out. Minted has a chat bar where you can ask them. When I asked that's what I understood

Thanks! Why didn't I think of reaching out to their live chat?

I got a response back, stating that their All-script addressing refers to caligraphy type font which would require hand-canceling. Therefore, if you go with the design or standard option, no hand-canceling is needed. Also, they apparently don't even offer the all-script option quite yet (so they jumped the gun by adding this note and confusing people like me!)

Right. I meant that when I took them to the post office to mail them to the recipients, some of the invitations got mailed to us instead because the machine couldn't read the recipient address, but read our return address as the recipient address, instead. The hand cancelling would've fixed that problem!

So while on the topic of Minted's addressing service - I just imported mine today and thank goodness I double checked because I found some issues with their import settings.

First, all of my zip codes that start with a zero didn't import correctly - so my 08767 showed up 8767. I had to manually fix 75% of my zip codes!

Second, I need to use the second address line for some (for minor's names or Apartment #s). Well they didn't import either so I had to manually add in the second line.

I'm so glad I checked before hitting submit!
