Minimony dress...

Laura, on June 7, 2020 at 1:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I can't seem to get excited about finding a dress. I think I'm worried it will fall through again. But I'm not even smiling in any of the photos. I'm exhausted and burnt out on wedding planning and crashing... Any advice??

You need to take some breaks! Always practice self care when something gets overwhelming.

Take some breaks! When I get unmotivated I always go back and look at our venue pictures. I just love our venue and it's perfect for what we wanted. You can also just pack it up and put it away for a bit - out of sight, out of mind. I hope you find some happiness with it soon!

Agreed you need to just step back and place your focus elsewhere. All the dresses you have tried have been beautiful and I think they look great on you. You will look amazing on your day. I get it, Corona is a stressful times for brides and that may be causing the increase. You are going to marry the guy of your dreams and when wedding planning becomes a pain that should be the focus. I think wedding planning has become so stressful that you need to leave it alone for awhile and just not think wedding (albeit hard) just so you can focus on happy things right now.

I had a hard time with dresses too, took me a couple months. I found the experience exhausting lol my dress was at none of the bridal shops. I narrowed it down to the designer I liked, then went hunting online. I got the store to order 2 dresses in For me, that I couldn’t find anywhere. When I walked in the store to see it, I knew I loved it. It was perfect. BUT none of the 4 shops I went to had “the one” there. Maybe you need to find a trunk show to go to, however with covid I’m not sure when they will be doing it.

Have there been any designers that you really liked? Did you find the dress once already?

I think you'll have better luck if you're in the right mind space first. Do you mean things fell through as in you had to reschedule or downsize? Or that you already had a dress but it didn't work out?

I had to reschedule 3 times - Covid bride - And my "the one" dress can't be altered to fit - I'd need it let out and there's not enough fabric ... So... everything is ... just... not what I'd envisioned. So, I need to go back to the drawing board. Oddly - I love our new venue and we're getting married at 12:30 pm which was the time of our first date. And I love, love, love that!

The rub is that my weddings - all dates and times - were evening weddings by candlelight. Now, I'm noon and it's really throwing me. Plus, I'm 45, so many dresses feel too young and the 'older women dresses' feel too old. I'm right in the middle.

What does a 45 yr old bride wear at noon on a Thursday with 5 people - when the venue is still formal? I can't seem to work out my vision. And it's in September so long breaks aren't an option. LOL!

Ahh gotcha. In that case, I'd suggest something classy and less formal then. I didn't want something that looked too young since people already think I'm younger than I am, and my stepdaughter is almost as tall as me now!

I sound like a broken record as this point with my dress suggestions on other posts, but I really think a bridesmaid dress in white or ivory is such a great (and overlooked) option! That way, you can focus on whatever silhouette is most flattering for your body type, and do whatever you want with accessories. My dress only cost $168 (not including alterations).

I chose this style, since I'm petite and wanted to create more of an hourglass illusion: https://www.morilee.com/product/bridesmaids/v-neck-chiffon-bridesmaid-dress-with-twist-front-bodice/

I broke down crying today :/. Unsure if I should wear my wedding dress or reception dress to the minimony. To postpone for a third date with so much uncertainty or to cancel. It’s exhausting. I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’re not alone.
