Mini-Moon: Paso Robles

Nadia, on January 13, 2017 at 1:43 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

FH and I just found out that our parents are gifting us our mini-moon. We're planning on going to Paso Robles and I'm starting to research where to stay and what to do. Do your guys have any recommendations for hotels, B&Bs, wineries, etc. to see. Thanks Smiley smile

Try to stay at a winery. Then you can drink a lot and still get home safely. As far as where to go, there are so many options. I have only been to a handful and each one was good. Tobin James, Rio Seco (they refund the price of the tasting if you buy wine...score), J. Lohr, and Graveyard Winery and Vineyards are some of my fave. I would check out this website: http://www.pasowine.com/wineries/ and look at the wines that they offer to get a better feel of what you like.

Dusi wine (http://www.jdusiwines.com) is one of the favorites of my friends, if you get sick of wine, there is the firestone brewery.

Don't miss the Brown Butter Cookies!

Are you gonna go towards the coast as well?

I know there are alot of bed and breakfasts and also vacation rentals because the mid state fair is held there. I also second tobin James because wine tasting is free and you get a ton. Sometimes that's the one winery we make it to. Also if you haven't been, take time to go to Heast Castle in San Simeon. It's about 30 minutes from Paso and it's gorgeous

If you haven't booked yet, check out Air B&Bs in the area. There are some in the little city square, then you are close to the restaurants and tasting rooms in town. The Paso Robles Inn is an affordable hotel in the town square too (I don't recommend the rooms with the hot tubs though -- they use natural hot springs water and they STINK). If your budget is higher, Hotel Cheval is very nice!

My favorite wineries are on the west side up the hill a little, or in "Tin City" and some might require an appointment but way worth it. Booker (appointment required), Brian Benson Cellars, Dilecta (tasting room as in the little town last time i was there, "Paso Underground"), L'Aventure, Villa Creek, Linne Calodo (appointment required), and Law (appointment required, GORGEOUS tasting room at the top of the hill).

Chronic Cellars has a fun tasting room (pool table, fun art, outside area) and much more affordable wines.

    Cheers!
