Mini Bride?

I've never seen this personally and honestly find the concept a little strange... possibly it's a regional thing? I've seen it now on 4 Weddings and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and I'm hoping someone can explain it. I'd love to understand! What is it exactly? Why do people have one? Are you going to...

I think the reason the mini brides on gypsy wedding look so strange is that they are wearing mini-versions of the OTT dress the bride has chosen, perhaps a small version of a more ... 'traditional' dress might not look as out of place.

I definately think brides opting for more 'sexy' styles should tone down any imitations being worn by children.

I'm technically not having a mini-bride, but my FG daughter will be wearing a white dress (although maybe do a purple sash to match the BMs) and my son (PG) will be wearing a small version of what FH is wearing, to some people they might look like a mini-bride/groom ... However to me, I'm just making the members of our family stand out from the rest of the wedding party.

As my kids have FHs surname & I still have my maiden name I've always likened it to playing for a sports team without wearing the team jersey, on my wedding day we'll all be the same -our own little team.

Hm... the more I'm learning, the more I'm unsure what the difference is between the FG/RB and a Mini Bride/Groom... are they just usually say 3 and under instead of the typically 3-8 for a FG?

Personally, I kept our FGs out of "bridey" dresses... I wanted them to just look like little girls at a fancy party rather than mini brides, but I know most people think the mini-bride look on a FG is cute.

And I don't know... I went to a wedding where there were three ADORABLE FGs and there may have been times when the upstaged the bride. Smiley winking You know that they're at least 2nd after the bride!

In a Puerto Rican wedding the mini bride symbolizes the bride when she is young and she has the hopes and dreams of marrying. U also have a mini groom which symbolizes the same thing for the groom. If its a catholic wedding the mini groom is holding a box with 13 cents ( part of the catholic tradition) and th mini bride carries the ring. In addition u may choose to have a flower girl. Followed by the rest of your party. The mini bride/groom isnt for cuteness or to drive the attention towards them and away from the actual bride and groom. They have a purpose and its symbolism. Nothing more nothing less.
