I've worked for the very rich before, and I know this kind of attitude. I once had to ask a woman to walk around to the back entrance of a building, as there was painting happening at the front. She was so offended she went home instead of coming to her appointment, and wouldn't return for a month. My theory is that if you have everything you want and are still unhappy, you desperately try to inflate minor problems to the point where they justify your misery. That way, you don't need to confront the fact that you hate your life.

The heel protectors didn't work and the brownie station was sparsely attended. That will distract them from the fact that they loathe each other for months!

Lots of hypocrisy in this thread. All of us are facing first world problems with our weddings and we all bitch about stupid things. But for people who managed to actually read the article, there is a clear reason they're suing and it has next to nothing to do with brownie stations or heels. It sounds like they were overcharged by a planner who allegedly bought things on their dime and attempted to charge them triple their budget. But I guess that shouldn't matter since they're rich anyway?

They actually say that they DID specify a budget and given that Dad is an attorney and the planner refused to comment, I tend to believe the father. Their complaint is that the planner charged three times the budget they already set in place.

And I'm glad you admit that we all have first world problems. So it seems silly to bash this couple over their first world problem when 99% of the posts on this forum are first world problems.

It's not the couple that's sueing though, it's the parents. I don't think anyone is bashing so much as laughing over the ridiculousness. At least, that's how I took it. These are legit problems to these people, and that's cool, but that doesn't mean that I can't laugh at their ridiculousness.

I guess I just don't see what's ridiculous about suing for being charged 3 times the amount you agreed to pay. If someone came here and said they were charged $75,000 by their planner when their agreed amount was $25,000, no one would think it's ridiculous that that person was filing a lawsuit over it.

I'm with Melissa here...The bill for 3x their budget is absolutely ridiculous (if that's what actually happened) but the brownie bar thing, lol

Immediately before the line you quoted, it says:

"The couple say they told Weiss they were willing to spend up to a million dollars."

She charged them over $3 million. We can argue over who's lying or not (neither of us know for sure), but I don't think it's a trivial thing nor does it become one because he griped about petty things like the brownie bar.

I get that, but what prompted my comment was the way the bigger issue -- the budget -- was totally dismissed. If someone came here and posted they were charged three times the agreed amount and then also posted about petty things like the brownie station as an aside, 99% of the posters would focus on the budget issue. But in this case, no one even mentioned it because it was more entertaining to make fun of them for the brownie station. Just seemed extremely hypocritical to me and still does.

This is neither here nor there, but I'd hope a $3m wedding planner, never mind a titan of junk bond trading, would know Tylenol is a bad idea for hangovers.

Any judge with half a brain will toss this out. Krap like this clogs the court system and prevents really important stuff from being dealt with. The vulgar amount of money could have been given to a worthwhile charity.

Melissa, just FYI, it's posters like Nancy who provoke comments like mine. It's krap (sic) because these people are rich, so who cares if they were allegedly overcharged?
