Super February 2021

Mild panic attack today...

Kerin, on June 28, 2020 at 9:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
So our wedding is February 14th. 33 weeks from now...to the day. A lot of people close to me say "that is plenty of time." However, in the meantime, I have to finish organizing and paying for our giant (like 3x the # of invitees as our wedding!!) Halloween party, which will be 10/18, we have 2 elementary aged daughters whose birthdays are November and December. We are always the hosts for family Thanksgiving and Christmas, and my birthday and FH's birthday are November and December, also.

I am freaking out about how much we need to accomplish between now and February. I had a panic attack this afternoon, which culminated in me putting together our wedding invitation packets...and they aren't being sent til Black Friday at the end of November.
I'll have the pieces I've been waiting for to start the card box project tomorrow when I get home. Then I have to work on how to dye spring roll wraps blue/gray to look like alien skin for our Halloween party buffet.
Anyone else struggling with taking care of the regular annual events on top of the wedding planning? Any suggestions in how to keep from getting overwhelmed?

That is a lot going on!
I think at that point maybe you can try to do quicker prepackaged less DIY things for the other events.

Here is how I can help with the spring rolls though: https://emilykylenutrition.com/pink-fresh-fruit-spring-rolls/

This is for pink but I think you can try it for other things! Basically they use beet juice to dye it pink but I bet if you used something like blueberry juice for blue it could work or whatever!

Anytime you’re having a panic attack it’s always good to have a lemon in the house. Not sure how bad your panic attacks are but if you bite right into the lemon it will kick you right out of a panic attack. Also, I think it’s normal to get overwhelmed and have your days of stress. This wedding stuff is a lot to pay for on top of everything else going on in our lives. It’s also a lot to plan and juggle. Sometimes you need to just take a nice bubble bath sip a glass of wine and turn off for a little bit too.

Thank you, Melle. We did an alien brain disection for our last Halloween party, so this year, we're upping the ante doing the entire body as an open body autopsy and need enough food and games for 140 people. Our girls want big birthday parties, and it'll be their 2nd year at a new school (they haven't been at any school this long since 2017, so it's a really big deal to them and we don't want to disappoint them). FH is a semi driver, so he comes up with these awesome ideas, but he's only home 34 hours a week, so all the execution is on me. We host roughly 40 people for each holiday meal, too. I feel like I'm not going to have a break until my honeymoon Smiley ups

Thank you, DJ. I had never heard of the lemon thing before, so I'm definitely going to give that a try. FH is a semi driver, so he left earlier, and the girls just went to bed at 9...I'm having a salted caramel whiskey and watching Big Bang Theory. That's as close to relaxing as I get these days Smiley winking I appreciate the advice!!!

Yoga or some other breathing activity. Take 15 - 30 minutes for yourself everyday (I know it's sounds impossible, but I know you can do it) and do something JUST for you. Personally, MYTIME is a hot bath with the doors closed and no interruption. It gives me time to just think about my own needs for a few minutes. Yoga is also a great help, but my FH and I have found that's "our thing"

I understand getting overwhelmed it's not uncommon, but know this... you've got this. You've been super organized until now, just keep on the same path and everything will work out.

Thank you, Margaret. I'm feeling better today, and more optimistic. I really appreciate your supportive comments ::hugs:: one rough spell did not undo all the progress I had made on my projects for 2 of the events we're planning, I think I just had to feel the turmoil for a minute to then be able to pick myself up and get back to it, if that makes any sense. Smiley heart

Sometimes that’s what it takes! You’re doing great, don’t let anything make you feel otherwise.
