Midwest brides - July?

Sarah, on April 17, 2020 at 6:59 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
Hi all,

We just changed our date from June 19th to July 24th. I’m curious, do any Midwest brides think we might be in the clear by then? We’ve invited 145 people, so it’s not a huge wedding. I’m hopeful, but I’m started to worry if moving it back 5 weeks was enough.

I feel like we will be in the clear by then since most other places have had the brunt of it over with after a few months! 🤞

Depending on what state you're in, I think there's a fairly good chance that it will be okay by the end of July.

We're in Texas on July 11th. We are trying to stay positive and have no plans on cancelling at this time.

We canceled our July wedding based off the new guidelines for opening America back up. Any wedding in the next few months with a guest count over 50 will likely need to postpone.

Our date was July 4th and I’m in New England which obviously is a lot worse off than the Midwest. That being said, as states open back up there around about to be a boom of new cases which will prevent states from going into the next phase. This is why I think no matter where you are in the US, May June and July aren’t looking good unfortunately.

That’s understandable. I’m still going with July 24th, whether it’s 10 people, 50 people or our original 120-140. I’m not waiting until next year, but I understand the need. Thanks for the input!

There's no evidence that there will be a boom as we start to reopen. The data shows a different story. Infact, the IHME model was lowered significantly yesterday. If there is a flare up, we will be better prepared to handle it quickly. Especially since you aren't in a hot spot area. We have 500 guests for 7/11 and moving forward as planned. Fingers crossed for you and all July brides! Smiley smile

    Hi Sarah,

Unfortunately, no one really knows with 100% accuracy what will happen next in the COVID-19 pandemic. To an extent, it depends on where you are, which news station you're watching, the model/projections they're using, the "experts" they've chosen to interview, etc.

However, as you said, you should be able to move forward with your late July wedding one way or another. Group size restrictions may impact your total headcount, but you can reduce to 50 or 10 attendees--whatever is recommended by then--and get married regardless. Smiley heart

The one item that you may want to investigate is getting your marriage license. Many county offices are closed temporarily, and online licenses are available in some places. Just a thought!

I wish you the best of luck for your July wedding!

I have a question about how you are going to inform "uninvited" guests? We have the same plan as you... Same venue and date, this only thing TBD is the guest list. I just can't figure out how and when to get the message to people.
