Midwest Brides: April or August date?

Hallie, on February 2, 2021 at 7:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi! My fiancé are having the TOUGHEST time picking a date. We are sort of limited to late April and mid August. We are getting married in Minnesota and weather is really taking a toll on our decisions. In April it could be cloudy and cold (also I work at a university in New England and he is in a grad program out of state so timing wise we are going to be a bit busier with work) and in August it could be super hot and humid (but we would have more time since school isn't going on). We are both VERY sweaty people and our tolerance for heat is virtually none, but the timing is much more convenient. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter that could help us make our decision?? Thanks so much!!

Hi Hallie! I get really hot too but luckily had no problems with our wedding in August. 😂 totally up to you, but if I were in your shoes, I would pick August. The further out from covid, the better. Even though I don’t regret our wedding during covid and we loved it, it was one of the most difficult challenges to plan around restrictions. If you can happily avoid it, go for August! Good luck!! ❤️

I personally would do April. As a guest, I didn't enjoy outdoor August weddings. They were torturing

I live in Minnesota, and I would suggest April over August!! I'm in the southeast side of MN and mid to late April is beautiful! It can still be chilly at night (40s-50s) but during the day, it's usually in the mid 60s-70s! August is HOT HOT HOT, so since you said you both are sweat prone (I am too), I would advise against August. Hope that is helpful! Smiley smile

If you really want to do August I'd suggest doing something indoors or maybe an indoor/outdoor combo so at least there's an "escape" if the weather is really bad.
