Midnight Lunch

Helena Handbasket, on February 5, 2016 at 2:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

So you guys have been so helpful and I need some more advice. What time do you serve midnight lunch? The last parties we were at they served around 10

Wedding is at 4 cocktails and appetizers directly following.

Dinner is at 6:30

So we are not having our caterer doing the lunch. We are having cheeseburgers brought in and not sure what time to serve.

Sorry, I am confused? Is this like a late night snack? What time is the reception over? Maybe an hour or so before then Smiley smile

We had our popcorn bar brought out at 930 and our dinner was around the same time as yours - our reception ended at 11.

I've never heard of the term Midnight Lunch. Is this like a late night snack? Cheeseburgers seems like a dinner or full meal, not a snack to me.

ETA: I'd say bring it out at 11. I'll be hungry by then if dinner is at 6:30.

Reception can go till the party is basically over. As long as people get their drinks before 2am

Ok, so midnight sounds good. For clarification, maybe call it a late night or midnight snack. Lunch sounds like noon-ish Smiley smile

We had a large dinner around 7:15, and served a late night snack of pizzas at 11. They were absolutely devoured. If your party can go super late, maybe around 11 or midnight?

We also call it lunch Smiley smile late night lunch - I'm in Manitoba. We served it at 11 p.m.

ETA: It's a prairies thing. I never heard it called lunch in Vancouver, but here it's most definitely lunch. And dinner is supper, haha.

How long do you have your venue for? The ones I have lived at mostly only allow 4-5 hrs.

We get our venue from Friday at noon till Sunday at 3. The caterer basically runs it and she is joining the party after lol.

    Hello VC from Alberta!!!

11 sounds good but what about the people who leave before? We are also having cupcakes and a candy bar

Edit:I had to change my OP as I had supper written in there and noticed everyone has called it dinner. Lol

Hi from Manitoba! In BC they call it dinner, so it took me a while to get used to call it supper, lol. MIL calls "dinner" any meal or snack that doesn't fall into the lunch or supper categories.

ETA: The people who left before didn't get any late night lunch at our wedding Smiley sad the DJ announced at some point that the lunch would be served at 11 p.m., so at least people knew. We also had candy (well, chocolate) favours and a dessert buffet, that was served right after supper.

Maybe you could do 11:30 p.m. since yours will keep serving drinks till 2. Besides the burgers, will you have anything cold? Maybe if you have chips or veggie trays, burgers could be served (and eaten) at 11, but there'll be food there in case people want to keep snacking afterwards.

For you, 11 PM would probably be perfect. I know I'd be starving and sending FH out to bring me a burger at around 11 PM anyways!

That's why we decided burgers. Nothing like a nice cheeseburger while you are dancing and drinking

Our ceremony starts at 4, then dinner from 6-7. We're doing our late night snack of pancakes and sliders at 9:15. There will be a ton of alcohol and dancing, so I didn't want to wait too long for people to get more food.

I have to admit, I am from Alberta and never heard it as midnight lunch. I must have been living under a rock lol. I do love the late night "snacks" though. The last wedding I went to they had oven roasted pizzas and they were DELISH.
