Renay, on July 1, 2011 at 1:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

So ladies, we've been given the green light to do a midnight buffet... What would you expect to be served at midnight?

Appetizers that are laid back. Small sandwiches, chips and dip, veggie tray, petit fours, etc.

Hhmm, I'm nervous about the whole chips & dip thing, I think it would get messy and it makes me think of something.. cheap, for lack of a better word... After the meal I don't want to spend a HUGE amount of money on the buffet, but I do want it to be substantial enough, anyone know of any buffet foods that go a loonngg way?? Smiley smile

People will probably be a little tipsy and something fried will soak all that right up! Can you do like a sampler platter? Is the venue offering this or are you bringing this in on your own?

We're bringing it in... It'll be difficult to keep anything hot. So I was thinking of little sandwiches, maybe muffins or cupcakes, deviled eggs, veggie/fruit platters.. cheese trays... stuff like that..

We are bringing in about 15 large pizzas at midnight! I went to a wedding once that did this and people still talk about how great it was! It's SO easy too! After people have been drinking and dancing all night it's perfect. It might be a little bit more than you were wanting to spend but it could be delivered so it'd still be hot and no stress for you.

I like Lana's idea of having pizza delivered, but this would depend on where you are having it because I can't think of any pizza place around me that stays open past 11. But if that was the case then you could also order chicken wings.

I went to a NYE party last year and they had those wraps you can get at Publix that are already cut up into finger good size, devil eggs, cold chicken wings (was still very yummy), veggie platter, fruit platter, chips and dip (you could skip the dip if you wanted), and I believe it was potatoe salad - not sure, but it was some kind of cold salad. You could also do a couple of different sandwich salads like egg salad, chicken salad, ham salad and then have small rolls and allow guests to make their own little sandwiches.

Yeah that makes a difference. Maybe talk to some neighboring bars/restaurants and see if they can deliver something over or if they have packages. If not, I do like the pizza idea. And if you order too much, who doesnt love left over pizza!

Noo pizza would be a great idea for anyone else lol, but not for us. We're in the country, there are definitely not any pizza places open past 10pm AND you can never count on what time they'll be delivering it.. Smiley atonished

We once did a mini party thing and we had good size rolls, and a lot of different meats and cheeses and accessory type things, and everyone made their own mini sandwiches. everyone really liked it because they could do what they wanted instead of being stuck with however the deli makes it.

Deli trays or crockpots full of meatballs and marinara and/or bbq beef to make little sandwiches along with some pasta salads can all be done ahead of time and are easy to serve.
