Microdermabrasion and skin treatments

Mallory Abroad, on May 14, 2014 at 4:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

What exactly is a Microdermabrasion treatment. I was being told about them today and a friend recommended them.

What are they like, stuff like that is completely out of my zone

Then she mentioned peels which just sounded scary.

It strips your skin of all of the dead/dry skin and imperfections. You definitely want to see a professional, and allow time to heal if you have a bad reaction.

Otherwise, you might spend an important occasion looking like a cross between Mike Tyson's cheek/eye and Eve's chest. You'll just have to trust me on this one...

Microdermabrasion is manual exfoliation. When you get a facial, they can do manual exfoliation or chemical exfoliation. I've had both. A chemical peel isn't as scary as is sounds, it just has a tingling sensation.

In regards to facials, what I've done in the past is to ask the facialist what she would recommend for my skin type.

IPL (intense pulsed light) is an awesome treatment, I had three rounds to remove hyper-pigmentation around my jaw line and a lot of sun spots/freckles. Most of them fell off and my skin is much more clear. It's like a laser treatment but technically it's not a laser (much less invasive than fraxil or other real lasers). Any dark spots just basically "adhere" to the light, turn dark, and flake off. It's been the best thing I've ever done for myself and increased my confidence about my skin and esp for wedding day. I'm vampire white now from staying out of the sun, but that's ok. They want to do a micro dermabrasion at the end of the treatment (in a few weeks) but I'm probably going to wait until after the wedding because it can make your skin pink for a while.
