Micro Wedding: Music / no dj no band

Bere, on November 3, 2020 at 7:54 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

Hey there! We are almost a month away from hosting a 30 people intimate wedding in a small restaurant in Brooklyn and we're being mindful of people capacity both for safety reasons and budget. We are opted out of a DJ or any sort of band. Any ideas of how to approach the music side of this?! I'm thinking buying a mix or dj set from a DJ could work? Any ideas? Thanks so much! Smiley heart

Could you request that the restaurant plays a lost of songs that you want?

Thanks! That's a good idea but it's a small restaurant, our friend's the owner and she will be there just making sure that everything's running smoothly.

A phone/iPad, a nice speaker and a playlist is all you need for background music for 30 people at a restaurant.

I agree with the PP. Do you have a nice speaker? If not you can get it off Amazon at a reasonable price.

Instead of paying for a dj, I suggest to borrow or buy a good speaker and download a list of songs from a music app.

I agree with others. If you have a speaker you could just make a playlist

I had a small wedding with 25 people, and my reception was at a small restaurant. They had their own speaker system where I could just connect to my phone and play a Spotify playlist for background music. So I didn't need to hire a DJ. I agree with the other comments, just get a nice speaker that connects to your phone/ipad!

Agree with previous comments! We canceled our DJ after scaling things down to about 35 people.

For the ceremony, we hired a violinist and cellist duo. For the reception, since it was still a relatively large space, we rented a speaker system and mic from a local company. We controlled the music with my husband’s tablet. There were some hiccups, but nothing major!

For our 15-guest wedding reception we had a soloist for cocktail hour and background music the venue played on their speaker system. Worked great!

Thank you all!! I was feeling nervous about creating a playlist but you've put these worries to rest lol. Smiley heart I hadn't thought about a soloist but sounds like a great idea Smiley smile
