Michael Bolton songs (seriously)

Mrs. Lav, on January 21, 2015 at 8:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Okay-- well aware I'm going to get made fun of for this one. FH and I LOVE Michael Bolton irrationally (whatever, I'm aware we're the only ones). Like, listened to his audio book on a vacation and saw him in concert last year (youngest ones in the audience). FH was a child actor/singer (Chip in Beauty & the Beast on Broadway in the mid-1990s) and used to win karaoke contests with Michael Bolton songs. I don't sing, but "How Can We Be Lovers" is still my go-to karaoke song.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards "Now that I Found You" as a wedding song, but FH (as much as he loves it) is convinced that not enough people know it. I think our friends get the joke (even though it's not really a joke). Yes, I'm aware it's super cheesy, but I still love it. What do you guys think?

Also, FH's entire family drives Hondas. Just saying.

ETA: FH had an 80s radio show throughout college and as a community volunteer until last year. Yes, I know NTIFY is from 1991, but it still fits us.

    FMS-

I have been deejaying weddings since '88 and I remember those days when I'd play several songs of his at every wedding. I think he just got too overexposed. same with Kenny G. Very rarely now do I play either of them. But when I do the vibe from the audience isn't as negative as much as say 10 years ago. I think he has moved from annoying to nostalgic for many people. He never was hip, but those people who thought the were too hip for him back then are my age now Smiley smile

Bottom line: it is your day and your song. If you two are enjoying it, everyone else will too. GL and congrats!

I say go for it... personally MB is my guilty pleasure.. I remember back in the day with my best friend, choreographing dances to the entire Time, Love & Tenderness album.

I'm with you. I love MB! And I love "Now that I Found You"! I think it's a great choice! Plus, I would assume quite a few of your guests know of your affection for him, so would they really be surprised? Smiley smile It's your wedding, go for it!
