Mexican wedding with Arabic touch, Mexican-Arab wedding, or something like that. What do I do? Help!

Brenda, on December 20, 2010 at 12:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hello! First of all don't attack me nor curse me, dont even judge me, this is serious.

I'm a Christian girl from Texas but I'm also a Middle-Eastern dancer. Both my fiancé and I are Mexican but due to obvious and natural reasons I love Arabic music. We are getting married but I have no idea on how to organize my wedding, mainly the music. Even though we are having Latin music, I want some Arabic beats, songs, music, and rythm as well. What can I do in order to balance all this? That is to say, how can I manage this in order to not scare many people (those conservative Christians-Pentecostal, Catholic, and/or Mexicans). Very few of us can bellydance but I don't know how to create a kind of ''Latin-Arab'', ''Mexican-Arab'' wedding without making it look too Arab or too Mexican.

Thank you so much Smiley smile

I'm a tad confused. Are you having Mexican or Arab themes, or just music? If it's just music, it's basically a non-issue. Your friends and family will be familiar with the fact that you are a dancer, and will likely welcome your tastes being used in the wedding. Discuss this with your DJ; they are quite skilled at blending all types of music together.

A good DJ familiar with both styles of music is going to be your key here. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of change to get someone experienced with both styles- but it will be worth it if that's what you are really going for.

Use lots of bold, saturated colors for your decor. If you're part of a belly dancing club or group, ask some of those girls to give a performance at your reception. Like others said, a good DJ should be able to blend the two styles without a problem.

I'm having the same problem, except i'm middle eastern and she's mexican. Can't figure out how to mix them together. Anyways, I made an account for you, to tell you that if you can't have a lot of Arabic music at your wedding, you should have at least one. That song is gipsy kings ft. alabina - como tu . It's a lovely song with both spanish and arabic. Trust me, you'll dance. Good luck.

Hello! I know what your dilemma is, I am not getting married but I am Mexican. I am also a kiddle eastern dancer and I looove Arabic music. You can look into this singer called Hakim, he is Egyptian singer but he has some songs in Spanish with Arab rhythms, and also he has songs with don omar. I would recommend you listen to his album called hidden treasures.

    Hope this helped!
