Metallic/pearlescent Invite Finish? Where?

Rachel, on May 22, 2019 at 9:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Has anyone here done DIY invites and had the option to order them with a metallic or pearlescent finish? Ours are designed, and I planned to get them through Vistaprint like we did our STDs, but their look and our theme (celestial) would be awesome with that sort of finish, and as far as I'm aware, Vistaprint doesn't have that option. I know it exists because I've seen it on other printed items, including specialty professional photographs at the studio where FH and I worked/met. Unfortunately, I asked about that printer and apparently they can only do that finish on photograph products, not front-and-back invites/cards.

Anyone know where we can do this and still not pay an arm and leg for printing?

Thanks!!!

Pearlescent paper exists. As does metallic. Minted.com offers pearlescent paper. And I think you can get the paper separately from sites like cardsandpockets.com. Though you might need a certain type of printer to print on that type of paper in order to not have the ink smear. I have not DIY, we didn’t use that type of paper but saw samples when we worked with a local graphic designer for invitations and used minted for save the dates and thank you cards.

Awesome, thanks! I'll take a look at Minted. In the meantime, does anyone else know of additional printing services that utilize this sort of paper?

I'm also googling; totally not being a lazy weirdo about this. Smiley winking

    I love pearlescent paper 😍
Staples is definitely an option. If you’re designing your own invites, you can order this type of pearlescent cardstock from Amazon (under $20 for 100) & print invites yourself, if you have a descent printer. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077FGRG2W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_n1F5Cb7CYNSB8
I will print our programs & menus on it! The letters will not smudge, but depending on printer quality, they can come little lighter than what was designed.

Wait, does Vistaprint have the pearlescent option for all, or was that just luck of the draw with the design you chose???? We are doing a galaxy theme but I designed our invite suite from scratch and love it too much to nix it and go with a pre-made. We did our STDs with Vistaprint and I like their pricing options and how often they have those big sales. Smiley tongue I couldn't find the pearlescent option for my own uploaded design, though!

You should be able to choose the pearlescent finish through Vistaprint. I designed our Christmas cards and printed through them on the pearlescent finish
