Menu Review

Lacy, on October 23, 2019 at 5:53 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

Hi all! We are working on finalizing our menu so that we can get a final price from our caterer, and I wanted to get opinions on what we are thinking.

Cocktail Hour

Fresh Seasonal Fruit Display with Vanilla Cream

Homemade Tomato and Mozzarella Salad w/ Fresh Basil

Petite Crab Cakes w/ horseradish remoulade

Mac and cheese tartlets

Buffet

Roasted Vegetable Salad w/ a Chive Vinaigrette

Herb Encrusted Beef Tenderloin

Grilled Citrus Shrimp Skewers

Penne pasta w/ garlic, olive oil, and tomato sauce (vegan)

Garlic mashed potatoes OR roasted new potatoes (can't decide)

Asparagus

Dessert

Traditional wedding cake (small, 3 tier flavor TBD)

Half sheet groom's cake (flavor TBD - including this because my FH wants a golf design)

Assorted cupcakes (gluten free and vegan options available)

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Maybe consider an alternative for the cocktail hour salad, or serve it for the buffet? It sounds really good but may be difficult for guests to roam and socialize with. We went for more finger food options and it seemed to work well.

Also, I'd vote for the new potatoes!

I should have clarified on that - it is actually a salad skewer that is a passed appetizer. The only non-passed appetizer will be the fruit station Smiley smile

I like. Lots of options and vegitarian options as well, I'd do the garlic mash

Sounds delicious! I bet they could do tomato, basil and mozz on a skewer. That could be a good option to it being served as a salad. We are actually having caprese skewers as one of our apps too.
Just read you’re already doing that!! Your menu sounds delicious and perfect!! Congrats!

Thanks, ladies! You all have given me so much confidence in our choices. It makes it so much easier knowing that we have the bar and food menu down. It makes planning and budgeting a lot less stressful at this point.

I prefer mashed potatoes at weddings! I think they are a crowd pleaser & easier to eat! I don't know if you need vegetables & asparagus (kind of the same thing). But also I think the more options the better. It sounds wonderful! The only thing I'd think about adding would maybe be bread & salad for dinner?

I think we are definitely going with the garlic mashed potatoes. The roasted vegetable dish is actually a salad. It is roasted vegetables served with greens and a dressing in salad form. It was the only salad my FH and I could agree upon as I didn't want to do a Caesar salad and he didn't want to do a salad with tomatoes (so literally all other options were out). There will also be assorted bread. I forgot to include that Smiley smile
