Menu printed - necessary or not?

Tracie, on January 23, 2021 at 12:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
We have a talented chef creating a custom menu for our wedding, with 3 different mains to choose from. Main course is plated. On the rsvp, we're just asking if they want duck, venison, trout, or vegetarian, but not including all the details of what each is served with.

I'm trying to decide on what to do about displaying the menu, so that people know what is on their plate as it's not really traditional sides.
Is it necessary to have one printed for each place setting? Or have one or two framed on each table (tables of 10)? Or just one large menu displayed by the seating chart? What are you doing due your wedding?

I only printed one menu for the table vs printing an individual for every guest

I would have one or two on the table. You don't want people to be standing around by the seating chart (assuming that's the direction you decide to go) trying to figure out what's coming with their dinner.

You make a valid point. Yep, I think having one or two on each table is the way to go. Thanks!

We had a lot of allergies in our group so I also posted our menu on our website to help decide their course ❤️ Your menu sounds delish by the way 🥰

One per plate is what I would do..and you can recycle the rest. Regardless if it's a buffet/stations or plated meal, it is courteous to give guests a heads up what is being served. Maybe they have a food allergy or intolerance that got overlooked or they don't like a certain side/sauce so they know to avoid those.

I’ve seen this done both ways- a menu framed and displayed in the center of the table (2 menus back to back in a 2way frame works best, so that both sides of the table can see it) and a printed menu for each place setting. I’ve also seen the menu get incorporated with the table number sign- the table number was printed large at the top, then the menu was printed below it. It saved money and space at the table (rather than printing and framing 2 separate things).

I like the one per table idea.
You can also list it on the website ahead of time.
You could add a QR code like restaurants are doing so if someone wants a closer look they can scan it?

Granted, I had a small wedding (only 20
people), but I printed out a menu for each place setting. I purchased a digital template from Etsy (not more than $10) that came 2 on a page and printed them myself at home. It worked out great! Menu printed - necessary or not? 2

Thanks Katie! We thankfully don't have many allergies from our guests, so we're just asking them to let us know on the rsvp.

Waste of money and paper (like programs). They will get tossed aside.
