Menu cards

Shelly, on October 2, 2019 at 7:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 11
Hey y’all ! I am having a plated meal during our reception. The guests will have 4 meal choices to choose from on our rsvp cards. Has anyone or do you know of anyone doing menu cards in this scenario? Would it be confusing for guests since they already chose their meal? I think it might be but at he same time, I’m a sucker for pretty stationary stuffed in a folded napkin. Any advice on how this is done? Or if I should just not do it at all?

Our guests could choose from 3 options when they RSVP’d and we didn’t do menus. We just did a napkin on the charger like this. We didn’t have any paper products like programs or menus at the wedding because I think they end up getting tossed and it wasn’t important to me.

That is very pretty! I like how the napkin is tied.

Thank you! I felt like it kept the tables less cluttered and there wasn’t menus all over the table when the different courses were brought out. More room for peoples drinks haha. But if menus are important to you and they are in the budget then go for it! There’s no right or wrong.

I’m doing menus. I really wanted them - I just like the look & the guest rsvp online. I included the standard entrees any special dietary wasn’t included. The really cool part is that I was able to list all the cupcake flavors on the menu, as we have a variety.

We didn’t do a menu since it was a buffet, but I also love pretty stationary in a napkin! Instead we bought a template from Etsy. It was thank you note for guests.

We are not doing any type of menu at our wedding (also plated dinner). I have been to a few weddings where they have a sweet thank you card tucked into the napkin and it's always really sweet. I would recommend doing the TY vs the menu as it may be confusing.

I think for you it'd be better to opt out of menus

Maybe instead of a menu card just put what meal they selected with their name?

or depending on your favor you could tuck a thank you card in the napkin and the favor on top?

We had menus on the table but our meal was a buffet, just the salad & bread was plated. Since guests have chosen, I don't know if you need menus?

We're also doing a four course plated meal during our reception; on RSVP'ing, our guests chose from one of four options as their entrées. We're having beautiful menus printed out detailing each of the four courses. The entrees are listed as "filet mignon with...OR salmon filet with...OR pork scallopini with...OR vegetable lasagna with..." etc. There are gorgeous templates for this style of menu on Minted.

Our reason for providing menus is that this way our guests know exactly what ingredients have gone into each dish (we have some food allergies among our guests), and also because other than the entrée, the remaining 3 courses are the same for everyone.

Besides that, I think it's a thoughtful detail to give your guests information about meal ingredients and preparations, and I don't see why it would be confusing.

I hate to see more waste then there already is at a wedding. We are having plated dinner and not doing menus or any other paper products. (Wouldn't do one with buffet either) Keeping the footprint small wherever we can.

If you really want some pretty stationary on the napkin, there are seeded recycled paper that people can plant later. Etsy has some beautiful heart shaped ones that would look beautiful on a napkin.
