Menu cards, pre-set salad or no - poll!

I had planned to do a menu card tucked into the napkin at each place setting, but my caterer is doing a pre-set salad. A) Ask my caterer to serve the salads to guests instead of having them pre-set (could affect the flow; servers bustling during first dance, or wait until after first-dance to serve salads.

B) Keep the pre-set salads and have a menu card at the top of the place setting (or somewhere else)

C) Stop trying to make menus happen, Gretchen. It's not going to happen!

I'm doing a receiving line. (Spend 15 minutes saying hi or the whole night trying to take a breath!) I will have pre-set salads so people can start eating while I'm still receiving. The dances will be after the dinner.

If the salad isn't placed while people are seated and the champagne isn't poured at the same time?

You've picked a sub standard venue without enough staff.

We're doing preset salads to cut down on wait time. Hadnt thought about menus/thank you card but thays a good idea.

We're doing a pre-set salad because I want to get dinner served quickly due to timing. Plus it adds some nice color to the table.

ETA: We aren't doing menu's because people had to choose what they wanted to eat with the RSVP.

UGHH, I HATE HATE, (did I stress that enough?) preset salads!! I would rather have no salad at all than a salad that was sitting there, with possibly flies flying around, people wandering around, possibly sneezing on it, maybe a child picking at it as they walk by, etc.. It absolutely GROSSES me out to no end to see food sitting out without being set over ice or a chafing dish, and with nothing covering them.

@MrsBeetoBe, haha thanks for being so nice while saying something along the lines of "I am a crazy food freak"!! It's okay if you were thinking it, sometimes I think it too, lol!!

Hahaha @cantwait it's okay! I mean, my caterer isn't suggesting they will place salads 4 hours beforehand. I doubt that it would be a large problem, but it's more about our preference. I prefer to be served my food instead of sitting down to a plate waiting for me.

Hey, if it works for you, then do it. just giving you my opinion which is A, since you asked. Everything will be lovely, whichever way you choose.

I hate seeing a pre-set salad. It looks sloppy and lazy, and freaks me out food-temperature-wise. Please urge them to serve the salad after people sit.

I'm team programs and menus, too!

Agree - option A. Don’t let the cater dictate; follow your heart & your vision.

I think B would be the most appropriate option.
