Men's Warehouse - how far in advance?

Chellie, on April 12, 2018 at 11:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 14
I was wondering what your experiences were with men's warehouse in regards to how soon you should rent the suit?

When I was filling out info for the bridal party and picking out possible suits for the groomsmen, mw said to put the order in at least two weeks before the wedding, but when I relayed the information to future mother in law, she said the website stated 4-5 months?

But when I got my dress from David's bridal, they said it would be ready to pick up in 4 weeks. I'm assuming rental times are different so you can ensure they have the piece for that day? But out of our 5 people who need suits, they'll be shopping at 4 different stores across the West coast.

Whats your advice for advance notice? The wedding is 5 months out and fh and I will be going this next weekend to find his tux and so I can see the colors/materials in person to finalize the groomsmen attire before sending the info out to the dudes.

My idea was to give the guys the attire list as soon as possible and not start nagging them until two months before the wedding if they haven't taken care of it yet.

(Also, I'll ask the sales associate as well when we go, but what do you know about alterations on rentals? Will they be required to do that or will the store send out for an outfit that fits? My other idea was to have the store send their suits to our address, since again, all over the West coast, and I don't want to risk someone forgetting there's in southern California.)

H has never gone for measurements more than three months out. Anything longer than 1-2 months, IMO, and you run the risk of them gaining/losing weight and not fitting into the tux. For the wedding he had them 3 months out, 2 of the GMs ended up needed to rush a new tux because they had gained weight.

Men's warehouse where I'm at requires all fitting to be done 2 months prior. We have a July 28th wedding and they want everyone fitted by May 28th!

    To piggyback a little bit:

I've noticed many wait til much closer to the wedding to get fitted and ordering, but do you go any earlier to see the colors together and start to get a general idea of what you'll be ordering 2 months out? Or do you just do that 2 months out as well?

We went sometimes right after we got engaged and spoke to a rep about the policy for rentals, the types of suits, pricing, colors of the ties if you rent those as well ETC.

You can really go and do that at any time in advance, it doesn't have to be the same day you order.

I think that all depends on you!

We went yesterday to pick everything out and book. We are getting married in June.

We have gone maybe 2 other times to other tux places in our area to see what's out there. We probably started looking about 4 months out I would guess.

FH just picked out his groomsmen & his attire at Mens Warehouse. We are getting married in September and they want the guys all measured by July 22nd.

Also, they gave us a group code that is specific to our wedding and the groomsmen can go to any MW location and get fitted for the correct thing.

Hello my wedding is May 16, 2020 we went looking at Tuxes in August of 2019 because we wanted to be sure they had the colors we needed as well as be sure that they match the bridesmaids dresses. Luckily for us Davids Bridal was right next door so Al's Formal allowed us to take the rack with all the vest and ties next door to match up. We purchased the swatch in the two colors at Davids Bridal and it matched perfect. It was a good thing we did this because we changed up about four different times since then on what he wants the men to wear. We are finalizing and will be having everyone go in January to get fitted just in case we have to send any back due to gaining or losing weight. I know we have a few people losing weight currently. I hope this helpsSmiley smile

Keep in mind all places do not have the colors and the colors may look close but may be way off so I advise to go ahead of time once you know what your bridesmaids will wear and I would purchase a swatch to be safe.

My wedding is June 27th - we went in at the end of last month to choose everything - they measured my fh for his tux. The guys are being told to get measured once by Feb 28th. Then to double check 4-6 weeks prior to account for weight loss. That way if anything goes wrong - or there are any issues with things (they are all in different states) there are no last minute surprises. I also told fh to make sure that everything gets tried on before they leave the store when they go to pick up. That way - there's 3 checks before we get married. Smiley smile
