Men’s Suits

I would watch for sales at J C Penny, Kohl’s, Macy’s, etc and with the coupons you can get a great deal on a nice suit that they could own forever. Renting is a waste.

We are watching sales at Men's Warehouse because they have Buy 1 Get 1 a lot. Also checking Macy's and Kohl's. I dont know what the average cost is but I assumed $300 to buy a suit for my dad was decent ?

SIL's GM rented theirs from the BlackTux for around $100 per guy. We bought FOB's suit from Macy's on a major sale, with a coupon and I think it was $350-400. SIL purchased his suit, custom made, from Indochino for around $400.

You can definitely find sales (especially around Father's Day and graduations in May-June). SIL considered asking his GMs if they wanted to buy their suits, but there were 6 of them, and a big range of sizes. He and daughter decided the odds of finding something, on sale, that would work for all of them weren't great. That's when they decided to go with Black Tux for rentals. (SIL had terrible experiences with Men's Warehouse when he's been in weddings, so that was never a consideration.) In the photos, it is very difficult to see differences between the guys rentals from BT and SIL's custom made suit.

My FH & his groomsmen bought their suits for $129.99 at Macy’s during a sale! Macy’s has a ton of really nice suits!

My FH paid $168 to buy his suit from Men’s Wearhouse (this included the cost of alterations). I believe this was during their Black Friday deal!

Express also has really great sales, 40% off of their suits right now!

Depending on budget and time, you can also suggest custom suits. Indochino, SuitSupply and Enzo all come to mind. Depending on the color and fabric, suits will start at $500 - but they are also great suits that can be used again and again. In larger cities, you can find showrooms for these stores, too, and they can accommodate in-person fittings and alterations. I think it's a good investment.
