Hi friends. I'm suuuUUUUUper bored during quarantine and I found myself here. I'm an expert on mens formal wear so if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

    Yay!!! I have a question for you. My colors are wine and quartz (basically a burgundy & dusty rose). My fiancé wants black as the base color instead of gray or blue. We want a more sleek look for the guys. If they are wearing black suits, would a black shirt work instead of white? Thanks a bunch!

    Yes. I need help in this. My bridesmaids will be wearing lilac, my fiancé doesn’t know if he wants to wear navy blue or black. Help!

    Would a dark grey look good with burgundy? what would you suggest with that pairing?

    Hello hello! I should clarify - when folks like me say formal wear
    we're referring to stuff like tuxedos and tailcoats as opposed to suits.
    Formal wear is where my real expertise is, but I do know a good amount
    about suits, so let's forge ahead! :-)

    The good news is, unlike with tuxedos (which can be a bit strict if you follow the old school rules/dress code), you have a ton of leeway with suits. I should also mention that I'm a HUGE fan of the old school "black tie" dress code - tuxedo, black bow tie that you tie yourself, etc. A fella can pretty much never go wrong if he goes by those guidelines. He'll never look more like Cary Grant. Something to consider :-)

    @Sherrenique: A black shirt with a suit is a pretty nightclubby vibe, so if that suits your wedding, go for it. A white shirt would be much more formal.
    @Trinity: If you're talking about a suit, navy blue would be the more classic choice. If it's a tuxedo, black is way better than navy. The only shade of blue that is classic for a tuxedo is "midnight blue," which when done correctly is so dark you pretty much think it's black.
    @Alexandra:
    A dark grey suit with a burgundy tie, is that what you're saying? Outstanding choice.

    Cheers,Grizzy
