Men’s attire

Lina, on May 5, 2022 at 9:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26
Hello,
I was wondering what’s a good timeline for the groom & his groomsmen to get their attire for the wedding? I know for the men they don’t have to get it so advanced like the women do because their stuff comes quicker. However we are getting married October 2 so the date is coming up & my fiancé is wondering when he should have his guys get their suits. Thanks in advance & happy planning! 😊

My husband had a custom suit. He had his first appointment less than 2 months before the wedding and it was ready in pleanty of time. If you know which place you want to buy/rent suits from then you can call them to get a general timeline that they would recommend.

We went to men's warehouse at the beginning of february to pick out what we wanted. They recommended a "rough" deadline of May 31st for the groomsmen to go get fitted and order. But by the end of August for the ringbearer and my son (15) who is walking me down the aisle. So they'll place the official order at the end of August. Guys will pick up 2 days before the wedding (try on in store to make sure everything fits) if any adjustments are required they overnight the new one for rehearsal day.

If they're renting, then he can go in to Men's Warehouse, Jos A Bank, or wherever to get measured, pick out what colors/ styles he wants, and create a group order so anyone included in the order can go in to get measured. Usually the measurements have to be taken about 2-3 months prior. He should probably go in soon just to give everyone some time to fit in an appointment in their schedules. The suits themselves won't come in until a few days prior to the wedding.

If they're buying the suits then it's probably best to go in sooner rather than later so they can get measured, order, have them hemmed if necessary, etc.

Oh yeah definitely good to know that’s a good timeline for my ring bearer (my nephew) he’s only 4 & still growing so I didn’t want to get his outfit too soon & then he outgrows it. So I see you’ll be getting it a few weeks before the wedding for the boys?

Yes that's why they told us End of August for the boys, they'll both still be growing so it's best to wait as long as possible for their measurements. Our ringbearer turns 5 right before the wedding, so he's growing still too. My son keeps getting taller and taller so waiting for him is also super necessary.

Thank you I’ll talk to him I’m sure he’ll be going this summer since the wedding is in October that should give them plenty of time! So do they have fittings like we do or just the one time when tailoring is done?

Hahaha right it’s not Amazon! I love how guys are so last minute & then they get their stuff & are like see you were stressing for no reason they are so much more chill & relaxed 🤣 but I’m glad your hubs is getting his stuff finally!

You definitely have some time, so no need to panic lol! Our wedding is in October too, and they asked us to have all the guys' measurements in by August.

If you buy a suit off the rack then it'll usually need to be hemmed unless the model size fits right off the bat. If they're purchased online they may still need a few tweaks. With rentals, they'll have a stockpile of different sizes, so they usually just get measured at the first appointment, the associate at the store will pop everything into the group order, and then the guys will try it all on the day they pick it up to make sure it fits.

Right!?!? He’s naturally way more laid back than me - total California surfer - he’s the zen to my obsessive worry 😂🤣😂.

Okay great I’m glad we have time still. My fiancé works a lot so it’s hard finding a time for him & all the guys to be free at the same time to go but they might just have to each go in separately to get their measurements. Thanks again for all the advice appreciate it!

Haha OMG sounds like my fiancé except he’s from Maryland but he’s still so chill! I am actually OCD diagnosed so wedding planning has been a little hectic for me like I’m constantly needing to do something as soon as it pops into my mind. I’ve stayed up late at night looking at things or doing stuff. So I’m trying to relax for the next few months we have pretty much everything done except minor details & needing to send invites out.

If they are buying and not renting asap. Especially if they may need alternations. Cause last minute and out of stock with covd is a 💣
