Men tux

Cornell, on January 28, 2021 at 1:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Is it common for men to rent their tuxedos? I've always thought I would want to buy mine just for a reminder of the special day. Is this less common?

Most men rent tuxes because they don't generally attend enough formal events that require one to justify the expense of purchasing.

Like Michelle said, tuxes aren't worn as often because they're reserved for very formal events, which not many people attend frequently.

It's more common for suits to be rented as well, depending on the price range/budget the bridal party has. If it came down between buying or renting a tux, I say rent 100%.

Both options are pretty common. FH bought a tailor made black tux for his cousin's wedding last year. So now he could play around with that. For our wedding he's most likely gonna wear those pants and just rent a white jacket.

Men normally rent their tuxes rather than purchasing because they tend to be rather expensive to purchase and most people don't wear tuxes all that often that it would be worth purchasing them.

Agree with the others- generally men just rent tuxes (unless you have many functions to o warrant buying it). My fiancé is purchasing his suit- he doesn’t want to wear a tux.

When I worked in bridal, 90% of the time tuxes and suits were rented. That being said, while it may not be very common, there’s no reason you shouldn’t buy your tux if you want to keep it for sentimental reasons!

Like the others have said most people rent.

I may end up getting another dress for the reception so he wants to then have a suit and a tux to have 2 different looks as well. (We are a little extra... HAHA)

For work, when he was going into the office, he wears a suit everyday. He was planning on buying both the suit and tux. The groomsmens will only have 1 outfit and he talked to all of them about renting or buying and they also want a suit custom made because most of them have never had one.

Like everyone else said most me rent their tuxedos.
But if you want to have something to hold on to after the wedding then go for it!

My FH and I are minimalists so we only buy clothing that we know we'll be wearing often.

My husband didn't wear a tuxedo, but a suit instead, and he purchased his. It's great that he has another nice suit now for special occasions. PP have already discussed the fact that most people do not need a tuxedo since they don't have enough formal events to wear them to, but if you would truly love to have a tuxedo in your closet, I don't see why you shouldn't!
