Memorial ideas for mother of groom?

Victoria, on November 12, 2019 at 11:03 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
My FH mother has passed away a few years back. What are some great ways to include a memorial of her in our wedding day? I was going to get a picture of her and put it in a reserved seat, but I am open to more ideas.

This isn’t really a memorial idea for the whole wedding to see, but maybe give him a gift of some sort that has a photo of his mother or him and his mother. If he has any jewelry from her, you could wear a piece of her jewelry. 😊

Our venue had a mantle on the side porch where we showcased our in memory pictures - both sets of my grandparents, his dad, & a good friend of ours. I also made the boutonnières & surprised him by putting a charm that was a picture of his dad on his boutonnière.

My husband had lost both of his parents and his brother so on our wedding day we left to empty chairs and during the ceremony we had a small part where we took flowers and laid them on the chair in memory of his family. I also bought him a lapel pin that he wore. It’s similar to the concept of a bouquet charm but for a man. I purchased it on Etsy

This isn’t for the whole wedding either but when one of my good friends got married her mom had passed away a year prior. Her husband had a sign made about the symbol of a penny and had it awaiting her in the bridal suite along with a trail of pennies to the sign. It was a sweet way to recognize her. Additionally, they had a religious ceremony in the hosptisl before her mom died so the pastor spoke of that during the ceremony

This is what he had on the sign with the pennies scattered around it. It was very intimate and allows the bride to have that moment in private

You could carry a small photo of her attached to your bouquet, they sell the time frames for that on Amazon. We both lost our parents, what we did was have their names read during the service, and I created a collage frame with the photos of those we've lost, and I put a flameless candle on the table with it.

We did a reserved seat for my grandma right in the front and it had a little sign, pic of her and my florist gave her a flower. it was really moving for me and a lot of my family to include it in that way because it felt like she was actually there.

Thank you. I gave it to him the night before our wedding and he cried for a long time. I can’t imagine how hard it was with his immediate family all being deceased. 😢
