Do you think having a wedding the Saturday or Sunday of memorial day weekend would be a bad idea. Most of my guests are from OOT. It is Not until 2017.

Our wedding will also be the Saturday before Memorial day (so i'm biased obviously). We chose the date because no matter where we chose to have the wedding a lot of guests were going to be coming from out of town- so this allowed an extra day for travel. Also - you know your guests- maybe its weird of my family or maybe its a regional thing, but for most people in my family Memorial day is not one of those holidays where they always have a PLAN- so I knew that the people important to me would be able to make it work and FH felt the same way- incidentally that works the other way too- I was also hoping that the holiday weekend might prevent the guest list from getting out of control (i'm thinking mostly of the parents friends that *just have to be invited* here).

Definitely compare prices based on the date- We were originally going to have the wedding in a bigger, more expensive city and I imagine that would have had a huge effect on prices (we changed locations for other reasons, but the smaller town seems to have worked in our favor ).

I'm getting married 5/28/16 and haven't had any problems with either up north season or the holiday. We are getting married in Birmingham MI and people seem to be happy to have an extra day to travel. Plane tickets are pricy though. Looking for fare sales.....
